Wonderful Space. Graveled paths for walking. Easy and hard parts of the walks. Dog friendly. Woods. Open grass spaces. Rocky parts. Really wonderful space. Can be there for a short time or hours. Bins at main entrances. Bike stations. Car park is small - EH4 7BN. Some signs not many. Historic tower.
I'm staying at the Holiday Inn, Edinburgh zoo and fancied a quick walk after work so I ended up at Corstorphine Hill. It's described as a gentle walk but let me tell you that parts are almost vertical. I sat there after the first climb taking oxygen in through every orifice and hoping my heart would keep going. The walk then takes you behind the zoo and has amazing views across Edinburgh. Assuming I survive the experience its something I'll definitely do again :-
The paths are well defined and clean with clear directions to different peaks of the hill. Nice place for a walk for all skill level.
Great park with lots of big trees, lots of dog walking, no sign post, so have to use your osn sense.
Lovely little hill in the city. Great for walking and running. Lots of sights on the hill and you might even spot some zebra!
Great place to walk the dog or do some off road mountain biking. Can get really muddy on some of the paths so make sure to wear the right foot wear. Amazing vistas of Edinburgh and you can even get a glimpse of the monkeys or wallabies on the Edinburgh Zoo side of the hill.
A variety of beautiful woodland walkways depending on where you access the hill lead to some of the most stunning views of Edinburgh. Some of the paths are quite steep but there are plenty of simpler ones meandering through the woods. The hill features a lovely walled garden, courtesy of Friends of Corstorphine Hill and also hosts part of the John Muir Walkway. The tower on the summit was built in 1871 as a memorial to Sir Walter Scott. Edinburgh Zoo is located on part of the hill so don't be too surprised if you spot one or two exotic for Scotland animals. An ambitious plan to create a museum in the former RAF control bunker located on the hill is ongoing. For more info on this go to Barnton Quarry Restoration Project's website or follow the team on Facebook.
Really good hill to trek with children and family. It's a good strech of walk in nature. Calm and peaceful. You can also have a glimpse of Zebras as the other part of the hill is Edinburgh Zoo.
Great wander, nice and wide, open flat areas to relax! Climb to the top of the Tower for a fantastic views of the city! Great day out!
Had a great winter walk up the hill, a decent stretch of the legs and a tower at the top!
