This is a top place to stay in Taunton, super lovely staff, great food, bar and wine selection. Just on the edge of the town centre, parking at the rear of the hotel. Rooms are modern and I think most have a bath and shower in the room bathrooms. Prices for staying are reasonable but not cheap, this is not a travel lodge. Rooms also come with a small fridge and brew making equipment. I would highly recommend this hotel  if your planning a visit.

Main road location with parking and walking distance to town centre (10 minute stroll). Rooms small but clean and tidy. Good ensuite with nice shower. No lift so if you have mobility problems check with management they might have rooms on ground floor. Very good service, friendly staff and great food.

I had a function hosted in the Retreat restaurant this evening and I cannot praise the Hotel enough for this.The function room was well laid out with plenty of atmosphere and some good background music, but the star of the show was the wonderful cold buffet. So many of the guests commented on it, great food, beautifully presented and displayed, of really high quality. The Pavlova was something to behold and tasted divine. The staff were excellent too, everything was done without any fuss at all, indeed they were attentive yet no-one realised that everything was being dealt with. This evening has genuinely exceeded all my expectations. Simply brilliant.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights to celebrate the New Year. We can't say enough about what a wonderful time we had and how enjoyable and relaxed the occasion was. The staff were extremely friendly and did their upmost to ensure everyone had a great time celebrating the new year.
Our room was clean and tidy and more than met our needs. Breakfast was great, but our evening meal made us feel like we were eating in a top class restaurant.
We will definitely be coming back.

Great location, walkable to town centre and train station. The rooms were modern, clean and big enough. All staff were lovely and although I didn't eat the menu looked good.
