Welcome and thank you for visiting the Facebook page for Colne Valley Veterinary Practice, the largest small animal vet practice in Colchester.

Story

We are a large and well equipped practice with nine experienced vets and we can deal with the needs of all types of pet, from hamsters to iguanas, from dwarf rabbits to giant dogs and from Amazon parrots to Bengal cats!

Established in 1947, and originally based in outbuildings behind a house in Military Road in the Newtown area of Colchester, the Colne Valley Veterinary Practice moved into our current, large and purpose built premises in 1998. Built over two floors and with five spacious consulting rooms our veterinary surgery has been designed with our patients in mind.

We aim to be the friendliest, most caring and generally the best vets in Colchester that your pet can have so why not browse our site or better still, come down to our surgery at the Hythe and drop in for a visit.

We are registered but today was the first time we had to make contact in an emergency. Great response when we called and when we arrived. Reception staff were kind and understanding. The vet regret didn't catch his name was professional, explained everything clearly together with options and sorted our dog's problem without any dramas. We really appreciated the positive and considerate approach. Thank-you !
Absolutely superb. My dog Alfie was taken ill, I took him to the vets, Greg and the nurses took outstanding care of him. Sadly, Alfie had advanced cancer, he passed away, I’m still so thankful for the kindness shown to Alfie and me. On previous visits, the vets have been able to take care of Alfie throughout his life, from puppy parties through injury repairs. Highly recommended.

Wish we had gone to this veterinary practice first. We went to another vets who are part of a big chain who were all about making money and didn't pick up on the symptoms that our kitten had. We wanted a 2nd opinion from a independent vet and by choosing this practice from the reviews went this week. All the staff from the receptionists , Nurses and Veterinary Surgeons were so lovely caring and compassionate. The Vets picked up on what was wrong with our kitten straight away from the symptoms that she was showing. All the staff are very professional if we had have gone to this vets first it would have saved a lot of time and money. We would highly recommend this veterinary practice
Really nice team and practice for my first visit, super easy to update all our old info from the old vets to them.
Sadly one of my showbirds was put to sleep as her injuries were too much, but all I can say is it was such a difficult time but it was, made so much easier for us both by the lovely way nurse Tina handled it and the warmth and love and respect and kindest way she treated us and the bird she made such a difficult decision easier for us to deal with and live with, thanks Tina don't know what we'd have done without you.
Very compassionate when we recently gad to have the family bunny put to sleep
We want to say a massive thank you to Tom vet who saved our Rosie. Rosie came to see Tom on Monday and she was so unwell with heart and breathing problems we were all prepared that Rosie would be put to sleep but Toms empathy and professionalism was amazing he gave us hope and Rosie is almost back to her old self. Thank you Tom for being kind, understanding and accommodating
Good sized car park, easy check-in, friendly and informative vet and lovely reception staff. Happy to have made the move to them
Very pleased with our visit to Tom today. He was great with our dog who can be difficult and gained her trust.
