Terrible service overall - no value, avoid at all costs, look for other help or services. Communication was appalling, would never be notified about meetings being cancelled/re-arranged, only if you chased it up. After the passing of my father, my mother struggled with her mental health and became psychotic, had a belief that everyone she knew was 'conspiring' against her including her direct family. She had seen/spoken to 6 different people within 3 months shows the type of care and responsibility they have for patients. For the first 2 months, the team did not appear to be trained in mental health, did not ask questions or identify my mums health issues, even my mum was questioning why they were doing weekly 'check ups'. She kept being passed between different individuals from PATH. They had seen her or had several meetings without tackling the issue and asking generic questions. The psychiatrist from the NHS was good, attempted to push solutions through for the first time, and diagnosed my mum with psychosis on the first interaction 3 months later. She had cut off all her support, family and friends by this stage however. After this meeting, she withdrew from the services and has been missing for the last 5/6 months. She has left the area due to her psychotic beliefs because they were not able to identify the issue or look at the root cause to be able to provide possible solutions, that made her mental health worse whilst under their care. I truly believe she would be in a healthier position, without contacting PATH initially, and unfortunately contributed to the deterioration of her mental health. As it stands they cannot do anything if she doesn't consent to professional help, however they allow her to cut herself off from everyone, no validation of safety, no family members/friends know of her whereabouts.
DON’T BELIEVE THEIR CQC RATING!! Appalling service. Their rating is from 2019 pre-pandemic just a gentle reminder and legally they should not be showing that anymore. Mis-leading, underfunded and unprofessional! No one knows what’s going on or communicates with each other. By this I mean, you will call, get booked for an appointment, even assured they will call you back and they don’t. You ring and chase, and no one knows what you’re talking about or even who you’re talking about. The call isn’t noted or recorded. This means you will get told one thing by one person, then something completely different by another and spend most of your time chasing, Challenging and working as their receptionist rather than being a patient. If you have issues already from being gaslit by the NHS or anyone telling you you don’t tick the generic testing boxes for an illness so no one believes you, don’t risk using this service. YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO CHOOSE. No one calls you back. You’re not allowed to be told who you’re seeing or when. I came away from their “service” suicidal with worse mental health than when I was rererred. I made a formal complaint and nothing happened. I’ve been referred to them again 18 months later because apparently my GP doesn’t understand the right to choose and they have done exactly what they’ve done before. £1000 later I’ve had to go private like so many already vulnerable people. This is across the board with them, not just one service. Prioritise yourself and your health because these people will not.
Been a patient here since the Rembrandt days. 14 years and not even a lick of therapy. Every time I go there I see someone new and I have to tell them my whole life story. They refuse to help. The most they’ve ever bothered to do was after a crisis and saw me for a total of 3 times all by a mental health nurse not a psychologist. In one of those meetings I was told “to exercise and do yoga and stop feeling sorry for myself.” They then hit me with the typical DNE despite me begging them for consistent weekly help. They decided to discharge me despite me requesting that they don’t, so how is that me not engaging? It just seems they’re either too lazy to do the work or just stereotype people. “Oh, she's a woman who behaves outside the expectations of how women behave and shows signs of trauma! Let's label her as a write-off bc it could get better with age.” Meanwhile I’ve lost so much time and prospects due to struggling. I’ve begged them for therapy, for DBT, for anything and was told “it’s not suitable for you” despite DBT being the standard treatment for someone with the condition they claim I have. I was so desperate that I once begged for shock therapy. Because everything else I suggested seemed to come with an excuse. When I was seeing someone privately that professional vehemently disagreed with my diagnosis which they made within 15 minutes and no follow-up. She believed I was autistic with possible ADHD with definite CPTSD. This is not the first time in my life it's been suggested. My family and I were not educated on what autism was before and had a very stereotypical view of what that would look like so it was dismissed completely during my schooling. My therapist saw me weekly over the span of 5 years before making a solid decision. I have paid probably £15,000 in private therapy fees and it is sadly no longer feasible. Without her, I wouldn't be here today. I also had an adhd assessment with them upon the recommendation of the private therapist. It wasn’t a real assessment just a bizarre XFactoresque audition where you tell them your life story and they decide whether or not you go to the next round. They use confirmation bias of any other diagnoses they've made to undermine what you're seeing them for. They practically ignored my mum who gave them a detailed account of my childhood where I was forgetful, careless, disorganised, spacey, and inattentive which was flagged by several teachers and relatives and that she blamed herself for refusing to accept that something was wrong. We were told “it’s normal for children to forget things.” It was not an occasional thing by any means and I still deal with it until this day. They won’t assess me again. Or consider that the two conditions could be coexisting and exacerbating each other. I was told it’s not possible to tell if the symptoms were caused by the diagnosed condition…despite me being a kid when I experienced things. They do not diagnose children with the condition I was diagnosed with as symptoms appear in early adulthood. They also cited emotional dysregulation as a reason despite that also being a symptoms of adhd/cptsd. And okay if your diagnosis is so infallible why aren’t you treating it or at least offering to do so? I would be more inclined to consider their view IF they were trying and saw me more than once. The person assessing me wasn't even the one doing the final assessment. It was so ridiculous and full of contradiction. My parents now have to pull money together to get me seen and assessed privately. They are absolutely livid as we have contributed to the system and we should not have to be paying for the help I need. They’ve left me without dignity as my independence has been severely impacted. Without my parents I would be completely screwed. I will never ever forgive this institution for its unwillingness to help me and others like me. They also have blood on their hands as my friend was in the same boat and felt so hopeless they ended up committing suicide. The service is absolutely shocking and criminal.
in Jan told them all about my trauma in life and how badly i was doing couldn't even get out of bed, and the man didn't care at all he just said I'm fine its just a bit of anxiety, never sent a letter to have me back. avoid Update : 8 months later I go to a psychiatrist with 20 years experience and I’m told I 100 percent have ADHD. Why did they dismiss this so quickly? And why was I given a trainee doctor? Ensure you get a psychiatrist and not the trainee, trust yourself
Just dismiss you after a quick initial assessment. They see you distressed but do not care. They CONTINUALLY lie about calling you back. Wouldn't waste my time with these wasters. I'm going to go and complain to the top now.
Been seen by Aylesbury crisis team, Watford crisis and community team and not much difference really. Still nowhere and still intending to give up next week, they must get a bonus if people under their care commit suicide. Had ambulance and police sent also and all a waste of time, never ending circle and may as well have bought a parrot as all I kept doing was repeating myself to different people. Mental health structure needs to be changed for others or people will continue ending their lives as seems what nhs wants.
Having started treatment in 2021, I have seen 4 different doctors. None of whom seem to have looked into the previous doctors notes. Doctors constantly miss telephone appointments, or phone at 8pm when appt was 11asmand leave a voicemail saying they will call again never do I have been phoning for 6 weeks now, begging for my doctor to call me as I have no medication and felt like I needed more help only to be told my next appt was on 13th January and nothing could be done sooner. Today I called, and was told the doctor called me on 11th January and noted I didn't answer. She wouldn't be able to call me back. I had no missed call, and had no voicemail from her. I will be raising an official complaint, the treatment here is disgusting. Working with vulnerable people, they should aim higher or work in a different specialism.
I'm not sure what to add that hasn't already been covered by other people. The Watford Wellbeing Team is not doing what it's name would say. They are utterly horrible to deal with, their attitude to the mental health of their patients is repugnant. It is a scripted box checking exercise with no focus on the needs of the individual. Having been referred to their service, the results of their care resulted in a worsening of my mental health. The letters that the send are aggressive and threatening in tone, which was a result of their failure. However because of the way that the run they have ticked the boxes and followed the procedure so it is YOUR fault. The staff seem barely trained, confuse matters, assume that you understand what treatment is being offered, fail to understand the problem, and then recommend inappropriate treatment. On top of all that they fail to deliver any professional patient empathy. I did check several staff on LinkedIn, and their profiles say that they have a passion for mental health, wellbeing and psychology. Alas they don't have the skill or patient skills to back that up or to be dealing with patients. Imagine going to A&E for a deep laceration, and the doctor dealing with you simply stabs you. That is what these people are doing with their mental health patients. I have great faith, patience and trust in the NHS, but this service should be disbanded. When my GP offered to refer me back with a letter of recommended treatment I said "I'd rather have a prostrate exam from a leaper who walks away with nine fingers". If you value your mental health do not engage with this service and find any alternative.
DR fapohundo is nothing but a rubbish doctor! dismissed me when i was crying my eyes out to her! i hope she gets sacked she no good at her job!!!!!!
They do help. They seem above average. I am please to have received their services.
