These guys have been my doctors for the last 15 years. I have have enough stupid medical issues to mean that I have had to attend the surgery a lot. The "phone in by 8 or phone back at 2" system is annoying since it is close to impossible to get through at 8 and plenty of working people are not able to call back at 2. I have suggested many times that, even if the doctors aren't available between 1 and 2, the phone line should still be open for people to call during their lunch breaks. Nonetheless, once you do get through, the doctors are generally great. They actually listen (I have heard many people tell me about their own GPs simply never really listening to them) and give you their time. I've never been rushed even though my consultations often end up covering a number of issues. I have been listened to. My concerns are always taken seriously. There is no reluctance to send me for further testing or to refer me on to a specialist if the problem seems to require it. There used to be a doctor there who was awful but he was only a locum and he has since retired. Currently, all of the permanent GPs are good but obviously I cannot comment on the locums as they come and go so I wouldn't know about them. Overall, if you can get past the unhelpful phone system, then you'll get a doctor who will listen to you, give you their time, and who will help you as much as possible and pass you on to a specialist if your problem is beyond their remit. That's exactly what I want from a doctor.

Everyone loves knocking the NHS, but on the rare occasions I've required attention from both Eastbourne & Hastings DG Hospitals and from our local Doctor's surgeries, I've been pleasantly impressed with the efficiency, care and professionalism of all concerned. My local Surgery is Ninfield which is associated with Windmill Hill and Collington Surgeries. I recently cut my Achilles with a runaway angle grinder and although the "4 hour wait" shown in E/B DGH made me think I should have brought a sleeping bag, my wound was inspected and stitched within that time. I hobbled out of the hospital in exactly 4 hours which I reckon is pretty good. The attention by the Doctors and nurses checking the slow progress of the wound has been impeccable. 100% service as far as I'm concerned. Mick from Hooe.
