20th June 2026 Visited the park with a friend who'd come over from Swindon to see the Dinosaur exhibit in Hollytrees Museum. After looking around Castle museum we strolled around the park. Such a lovely area in the middle of Colchester. Walked through the sensory garden which is so nice for the residents who live next door. Then down to the tearoom in the middle & then back around to the castle entrance.

This is a lovely park, well maintained and with a diverse landscape, covering sport grounds, a play ground, a flower garden, tree lined walking paths, a lake, a koi pond, a sandpit and most famously - a castle. It’s great in any weather but summer and autumn are the best seasons to admire the spectacle of colors in the park.

Set in stunning grounds with plenty to look at and see. Ground is kept immaculate and the flower beds look fantastic. There's plenty of benches and seating everywhere to sit and take in the views. Cafe and coffee  shop on site as well as toilets  with plenty of bins to put your rubbish in. The main attraction being the castle . There's also a nice area to sit and watch the fish swimming around. Overall a great day out for anyone looking for somewhere to go whether you're on your own or with the whole family.

I was doing the parkrun, however, lots of people strolling around, kids in the play park, nice and chilled

Saw Craig David at Lower Castle Park.nHelpful staff, toilets were close by, amazing experience.nOne negative, if you don't know the area very well it's very hard to find the car park for events.nI paid for parking but couldn't find where the car park was!
