I am appalled by this place, I sent my friend in to buy some locusts for my bearded dragon, while I waited outside with the children, she didn't know what she was buying so asked a member of staff who got 3 boxes for her. When I got home I found that not only were they all dead, they were actually rotten and the boxes were full of flies. You expect a couple of dead ones, but this was appalling. I called the shop as I don't live nearby and they said my friend must have picked them off the shelf and I'd have to take them back. I requested a refund and their response was "we don't give refunds, there are signs on the wall". In the end I drove over to exchange them and all the other boxes of insects on their shelves were the same. I don't know why they would think it was acceptable to let the insects die in this way or to keep selling them. They exchanged them for us but I certainly won't be going back there, they don't take care of the creatures and they continued to sell boxes of rotting insects after I had told them there was an issue.
NOT recommended one bit. Upgraded to a bigger fish tank so already had some fish already in my old tank. I followed all the procedures you should when setting up a new tank. After it had all been set-up & run through for a week I had my water tested at another store & they said it was fine, so I then transferred my old fish into the new tank, after a few days of the fish being in the tank I went & had the water tested again to make sure nothing had changed in the water everything came back all fine. So I thought I would treat myself to some new fish to fill the tank up a little more.. So after buying more than two handfuls of fish I am now the proud owner of non apart from the fish I already owned The fish kept dying over a period of a few days of buying them so not very happy. I then took a sample of my water into 2 other pet stores near me & everything came back fine as it should do. So then I went to Codnor pet shop & confronted the owner & as soon as I said all my fish had died, he was straight on the defensive side shouting & swearing over the top of me all the time.. saying the fish dying is all my fault, when I was able to get a word in I asked him to test my water & straight away he said the tests have all come back there all high, when I asked him for a test sample of his own water he told me to get out of his shop. Not only an aggressive shop owner but its very untidy & unclean with very little knowledge to the animals that are being sold. After the visit to Codnor I went straight to another pet store to get my water tested with a second opinion & they said your water is fine nothing wrong with it at all. I am writing this review to warn people that this is not a good store to visit, by all means go there yourself you may get a better experience than I did but just bare in mind if you do purchase any products from this store you could be wasting your money as if anything is faulty they will blame it all on you. Massively gone down hill since the last people that owned it.
Called in and purchased 6 small zebra fish. Five days later my fish started dying from fin rot and parasitic anchor worm. Lost 2 , 8" dojo loaches 2 rosy barb's, 2 purple/ blue Tetra's and 1 zebra fish. This has cost me the fish, time, petrol and medication. Be very aware if buying here! DO NOT BOTHER WITH THIS SHOP! DISEASE,DEATH AND A VERY NEGATIVE AND AGGRESSIVE MANAGER WHEN CHALLENGED ABOUT HIS DISEASED STOCK!!!
Staff are very helpful, it was a joy chatting to them and we had a good laugh about things in general. They also provided excellent advice. I've spent quite a lot of time in this store, and money and each visit has been a pleasure.
Absolutely disgusting and rude staff. Went in a few months a go for a outdoor pump for our pond asked which one I needed the staff gave me one. Took it home opened it for it to be wrong clearly says not for outdoor use on it. Mother-in law took it back next day as I was at work they would not give a refund and made her feel intimidated. It took for me to go and have to argue this out for my money back there customer service skills needs working on !!!
Very nice shop nicely layed out everything is layed out for easy finding & prices aren't too bad staff are friendly& helpful got loads of fish,turtles & others great place to pop in for a wonder place is open & your allowedto walk aroundon your own or with another person during covid so is worth taking 5 minutesof your time & pop in for a chat . Can be little hard for parking best to park in pub carpark or carpark down road both free #supportlocal
Went into the shop looking for tropical fish and a tank. Went in to find that the fish were in very bad condition. 3 simese fighters where dead some for a long while with many other fish in other tanks were also dead. Other fish where very ill and when staff was informed they chucked in the I'll fish with the dead fish and from what I can tell they chucked them away. Rest of the tanks had algae growth and water was cloudy. I do not recommend this store at the moment but hopefully they will improve as the staff lack knowledge and experience.
Shocking, ordered a bearded dragon and a set up for my sons birthday. Went to pick it up and it was not the colour we asked for, it was only 4_5 weeks old which should never have been sold to us so young. We had him for a week and would not eat, when I called them I was told to take him to a vet. Also when you buy a set up I expect the right stuff, they gave us stuff to go at the bottom that is really dangerous for them, and I've just had to spend another £97 and a thermostat as it did not have one. Not happy at all. Please look around before buying from this place as I don't think they have a clue what they are talking about
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS HORRIFIC BUSINESS Codnor Pet Shop sold me a Horsfield Tortoise who tested positive for Mycoplasma a potentially, and in this case definitively deadly illness caused by bad breeding practice then completely denied all responsibility as they'd "changed owners", which they obviously hadn't, because they changed names for a week, then returned back to their original name. Horrible people.
Welcoming and happy to help . Had no problems with my purchase of xl mice and reasonably priced. Will go back again .
