A wonderful place to visit. Its as if you suddenly step back in time from Torquay. Much really wonderful history. There are excellent craft shops. A real blacksmiths. Glass blowing and other workshops. Often markets and craft fairs. Cricket in the summer. And a wonderful horse and cart rude through the grounds. A wonderful little church full if history. Lots of walks around big fish ponds and forests and fields. There are food and refreshments within the building. And the wonderful Drum Inn for excellent food and drink just nearby. Just go and enjoy.

Cockington is a lovely surprise tucked away being Torquay. Visit on foot along the lovely footpath alongside the babbling stream, or by car and walk along the lanes. Nice mix of tea shops (Weavers Cottage is the best!) and inside Cockington Court, a craft centre with a blacksmith, chocolatier, jewellery and glass amongst others. Inside the main building is a gift shop, tea shop, and upstairs the Registry Office. All well worth a visit...and dogs are welcome inside the Cockington Court tea room!

Cockington is such a beautiful location to walk around whatever the time of year. You can explore the woods, enjoy the coffee shop, or look at the craft shops. The craft shops are a great place to get a hand made gift, including an amazing chocolate shop. You can also look around the mansion house and church which are on sight. There is also the drum pub very close by which is perfect for a meal or just a drink.

Visited 'out of season'. On the plus side it wasn't too busy but on the minus side some of it was closed. There are walks around the area and a garden to do anytime of the year. The car park isn't free in the winter but people were parking for free in the road leading to Cockington. We had lunch in the pub which was good. The craft outlets were mostly open with some lovely things to buy. We abandoned tea and cake at the cafe in the house as it seemed to be in chaos. A festive horse and carriage was taking Santa for trips around the garden which brightened things up. Worth a visit in or out of season depending how busy you like it.
