My partner & I recently sold a house with Cliftons & had a very positive experience. They are a small team & we found them very keen to find buyers in a difficult market & very efficient & their fees very competitive. We would definitely use them again.
If there is an agency to avoid, it is Clifton's! All bad comments on internet are sadly true. I believed it would have been better for me but we had a really bad experience too. We have rent a flat for two years during our expatriation in Bristol we have maintained perfectly the flat and paid every month. The agency has communication issue they hardly answer to your call / emails, you need to be more than patient, especially if you are not expecting an answer...and not helpfull at all. As an example I could write pages, they have explained us that the appliances not working part of the Inventory will not be replaced because "not essential to our life" ???... After deposit deduction agreement, we had to fight to have our deposit back. 26 days why it is so long? to agree the deduction + 20 additional days after a deposit deduction agreement to receive the money the day after we informed them we launched the DPS dispute process because they told us several times it was done and it was not. And you know what, instead of receiving simple apologizes, the agency owner send us an email where it was writing we were threating them and making wrong accusation. 2671 pounds they returned back after 56 days, hopefully we never gave up. And we will inform people here, relocation companies and DPS with all piece of evidence we have. It is a shame this kind of unprofessional agency can still act as they do !!!
Very unprofessional agency, stay well away! I rented my property out through this Agency for 3 years and they did not do a good job at all. My rents were consistently late, they did not do decent spot checks. They charged me for final property check. The tenants left my house with mould on the walls, bags of rubbish I had to remove, , used condoms, broken smoke alarms, filthy carpets and oven and their own cheap furniture to remove. Cliftons did not support me after using them for 3 years. They wre on the tenants side. I spent hours and £300 on getting the house back to some level of decency, lost months of rent as it was not rentable. I did not get one penny back to cover the costs! My tenants got all their full deposit back despite the way they left the property. Please AVOID them at all costs!
I purchased an investment property through the Clifton office, the process was made stress free and smooth by the Branch Manager, Tom. He made me feel like I was his only client, and ensured i was comfortable and relaxed through this stressful process. Between exchange and completion, Beth, the Lettings Manager talked me through everything i needed to know about their services and made it so easy to decided. Once the lettings team added the property to the market for rentals, Kayleigh found me the perfect tenant very quickly, by listening to what I wanted from a tenant. I will never use another agent again after experiencing such a high level of professionalism and incredible proactive service. Thank you Cliftons.
My partner and I have been tenants with Cliftons Estate Agents for a year and a half and they have always looked after us. We’ve never had any issues with fees, deposits, property inspections, repairs to the property or anything else. They now have a new repair booking system which allows you to upload pictures and makes things easier for contractors, the agency and the tenants. Overall Cliftons in general and Gemma in particular are more than recommendable for anyone who wants to rent a property in such a difficult market as Bristol.
I have been delighted with the service I have received from the team at Cliftons Estate Agents - they are efficient, friendly, professional and consistent. As an ongoing tenant, I am well looked after, my home is maintained and I feel secure and comfortable. Gemma looks after me so well, I feel like I’m her only tenant! I have repeatedly recommended Cliftons and will continue to do so.
Complete rip-off. At the time we had to pay a deposit to the value of one months rent so far so normal, then an 'agency fee' to the value of 40% of the deposit +VAT. I considered this pretty exorbitant, but then that may well have been par for the course before this new bill getting rid of agency fees. And THEN we had to pay a referencing fee! Which consisted of Cliftons getting a 3rd party to contact us to fill in an online portal ourselves and uploading scans of payslips and passports etc ourselves. So all-in-all, upon moving in we had to pay first months rent, and then 1.67x that amount ON TOP. Fees were a complete rip off, but i do get that this isn't a unique case. It was the lazy incompetence of everyone we dealt with from start to finish. They said I could pick the keys up at 9am, so I moved all my stuff out of my old place, put it in my car, had a friend take a day off to help me. Got there at 9am and said I was way too early and the landlord hadn't handed in the keys yet. Once I got the keys and moved in they then completely wiped their hands of it all and offer no management or service for the property after the point of moving in so I really can't see where the value is in any of their fees. I would recommend everyone looking at a Cliftons property to look with a different letting agency, or even go direct to landlords. I don't plan on ever giving them another penny.
I rented a property with Cliftons in June 2016. Cliftons were very helpful and they made the whole process a breeze. I would thoroughly recommend them and use again. Gemma has been really helpful throughout the whole tenancy and has really raised the bar on what I expected from a lettings agent.
Professional, proactive & and a pleasure to work with. Gemma and the team at Cliftons, stepped in after a month of unsuccessful potential tenant viewings with a rival firm. Cliftons found a tenant within a couple of days & agreed a highly competitive fee. This was around 6 months ago & they've been fantastic since then. There are many agents swarming the Bristol market, I highly recommend these guys.
Tom Rawlings dealt with my purchase of a flat in Bristol which took much longer than I expected due to issues with getting a mortgage as an Ex-Pat. Throughout that time Tom was in regular contact with me to ensure that things were progressing and was able to keep the vendor engaged with my purchase despite there being long periods of apparent inactivity.!! I was impressed with his approach and asked him to handle the letting of the flat - after 2 days of marketing we have 5 viewings booked !!!
