I parked here today, after reading the reviews I was a little nervous as to whether the bus would turn up, I paid 6 pound into the machine, which is coin only, you get a ticket for your car and one to get on the bus, this ticket is for all the people in your car. I was meeting family here then getting the bus into Brixham, prior to their arrival two buses came so that was a good start, some people were having trouble with the machine accepting their 1 pound coins and also one couple put their money in and only got the car part of their ticket, when the next person paid the rest of their ticket came out. I got the bus after my family arrived, it was a short ride into the town around 1120 am them we came back after 530pm. The car park is a small grass field really so could get muddy in winter, there are no facilities here, toilets etc.
Turned up during half term week October 2022 and it is clearly not in use. The car parks were all very full in town. Signs to the park and ride are still up with no indication it is closed. Judging by how busy the town was there is definitely a demand for the park and ride.
Excellent service for the shuttle service to the Pirate Festival in Brixham. £10 per car which gave you parking and the bus to and from Brixham. Bus was there waiting and no problem getting a bus back. First class service would recommend.
Be careful when I tried to park in there. There were loads of travellers camping out there. So I turned around and left. Not risking my car
Waste of time pay machine says 10to15 minutes between buses after paying £6 for the park & ride waiting a hour gave up and left well done Brixham council no wonder Brixham is jammed with traffic
Dreadful service, it’s NOT a park and ride, it’s a bus stop with parking available! Arrived at 09.50 and the first bus sailed by at 10.50 - full up! A second bus arrived at the stop around 11.00, followed immediately after by another! It was the same going back to the park and ride- sorry bus stop. Waited ages and then 3 buses turned up together, appalling service!! Oh, and you need coins, the machine doesn’t take notes or cards
Parked in park and ride today ,19th April,and paid our £6. Waited 45 minutes at bus stop on park and ride no show. Information on website says buses pull in . My husband phoned golf club as could get no help from tourist info. They told us to wait on main road. 2 buses just went past pointing to park and ride. Eventually after 75 minutes a bus stopped, at last. The driver said buses were not pulling in due to state of drive , no notification of this anywhere. When we caught bus back we were told to get of at Lupton Grange and walk up main road, no footpaths so dangerous, walked through Churston, good job we like walking. More like park and walk not park and ride. Shambolic.
If I could have given zero stars I would. Ticket machine broken so had to walk to golf club to get a bit of scrap paper with the date & paid hand written on it. Told the busses ran every 10 mins after waiting 25 mins a bus turned up we all went to get on 18 people waiting by this time only to be told it was a bus on the way back to Newton Abbot. A lady asked what time a bus was due & told 5 mins. Another 25 mins later gave up. Followed by others
The Park and Ride was easy to find and there was no problem parking. The cost is £6 which includes the bus fare into the town. The stop is on a regular bus route which is supposed to be come every 10 minutes but we waited considerably longer and then 3 buses came all together! The drop off point in the town is central and very convenient. On the return journey there was a bus waiting and we left within a couple of minutes for the return journey. Overall not a bad experience and parking in the town could have been much more difficult.
What a nightmare today. Wanted to go to Brixham Pirate Festival. Set off early, got to Brixham park and ride. Paid up then waited for the bus. Still there an hour later. Reckon there was over 150 people waiting for the bus. Many small kids wanting to see the pirates, getting cold and bored and starting to hit brothers etc with plastic swords. My wife fell victim to a 5 year old pirates sword swing. Turns out the buses were full, and didn't even stop to tell people, or even bother to radio back to the depot. Yes, at least 3 Stagecoach buses just drove past the entrance. The car park attendant was a girl only about 16, and she was in tears being faced by those people annoyed and demanding their money back. Felt so sorry for her.
