Having read some of the bad reviews, I felt I needed to share my experience. I find the new appt system much better, the morning and evening standard appts are much more practical for those of us that work outside of Brighouse, and if you do need to be seen on the day, there is a "sit & wait" option at the end of the morning and afternoon, so you will get seen on the day. I don't think you could ask for much more than that. The early morning appts are usually always late, I was there for my 7.00am appt (I had arrived at 6.50 to make sure I wasn't late) and the Dr arrived at 7.15. However, when I spoke with him, I asked him what hours he would work that day and he said until 7.30 that night. I asked about breaks and he said 1/2hr if he is lucky. That works out at roughly an 11hr shift, 10 minutes per appt = approx 60 appts that day. That's 60 potential patients in one day that this Dr is expected to diagnose and treat for any and all medical conditions. I don't think I could sustain that workload on a regular basis. As someone else commented, I think the issue is more with the NHS rather than this Practice. Also, Dr Khan. He was excellent with me, I had had pains for just over a week, finally went along expecting to get some antibiotics and be on my way. Dr Khan assessed me, had me getting a blood test the following morning, then had me in hospital that afternoon. Turns out my liver wasn't functioning properly and could have been very serious if not caught in time. I had no idea it was that bad. Also, my Husband had a cyst that had grown to the extent that it was causing him a lot of pain and discomfort. I recommended Dr Khan, my Husband went to see him and because the cyst needed urgent treatment, Dr Khan got him into The Spire @ Elland within days. For me, this Practice does as well as it can under the auspices of the under-funded, over-stretched NHS

I need to move to a new doctors asap, been dealing with the incompetence here for too long. First thing, I ordered my prescription online just as the receptionist told me I needed to. 10 days and multiple chases later they "couldn't find it". I've now been without medication for a week & it's one you have to be phased off due to your body becoming addicted and withdrawal symptoms so I'm not happy. Also, I used to rave about Dr Khan but after how he's treated my partner I shall not be having any appointment with him again. We thought he was the first person in 2 years to take my partner seriously but turns out he doesn't care. Dr Khan told my partner that he couldn't get hold of any of his medical records (whats the point in the NHS?) and he couldn't chase or find an x-ray the hospital was meant to send in 4 months ago after my partner was rushed in to hospital with a serious health issue which mimics a heart attack as well as leaks stomach acid into his body damaging his diaphragm, stomach lining and without surgery he was told at the hospital it could affect his heart so it is extremely scary, especially when he has a family history of unexplained heart attacks! Dr Khan told him to carry on taking some medication which he hasn't been on for 6 months (all of which time he's been seeing Dr Khan). Also, how can the surgery be running late so often? Never heard of an appointment being on time, even the 7am ones! It's not even that I don't understand the pressure on the NHS at the moment, my Dad has been in the NHS longer than I've been alive, but this is just appalling service and has nothing to do with the pressure on the NHS at all.

Most experiences have been fine, especially since the appointment booking system changed earlier this year, 2018. Any problems people have , in my opinion, are down to the lack of funding in the NHS as a whole, not down to this particular surgery.

I rang on Thursday the 18th January to book an appointment as I have been off work all week ill and wasn’t getting better. I was told by a very disinterested receptionist that there was no appointments until the 31st of January or the 9th of February!! This is completely unacceptable, let’s hope I don’t need medication to get better or it doesn’t get worse. This needs to be looked into as ill people can not get an appointment, also some customer service & empathy training for reception staff.
