Love a jog, stroll, picnic or chill here. They have a tennis club you can join. A play-park for the kids. Table tennis tables, a cafe and lots n lots of green space. Oh and there's a mini forest which you can walk through to the other side of the park with more greenery. Lots of friendly dog walkers too.
Fun place for fireworks every year. During day it is fun to explore with kids and the dog. Woods are great and playground is full of things to entertain my two. Cafe nice.
Today my husband and l went to visit Recreation ground the back of Chislehurst Library. Hasn't chanced much since my last visit about 35 years ago. Although it has a new play park for the kids and a new cafe with toilets. The woods at the back goes up to the fields the back of Victoria Road. You can still see Redhill School from the woods, where l went to school 57 years ago. It's a lovely park thats why l give it 5 stars
A trip down memory lane for my wife and I. My wife in particular for here a sentimental place - Chislehurst Recreation ground, garden and park - where she spent time in her younger days in this park, as too her time served in her primary school 'REDHILL' adjacent bordering the park. In view of the park to the north is the tower of the 'ANNUNCIATION CHURCH in Chislehurst High Street. It is at this church we married circa. October 1980 now 42 years ago!. Happy days, happy memories for this our own little 'Holy grail' we cherish forever. Personal history aside...this wonderful green space area is one or only..? park in the Chislehurst domain. Popular with families, children noticed a play area and amenities within the park, and an ideal location with general hikers, fitness and health pursuers, and sporting enthusiasts - tennis and football home ground to F.C.ELMSTEAD. Popular too with dog walkers, a good footpath circulates the park all within open view. A hikers and nature trail on the ' GREEN CHAIN WALK' which follows through the adjoining woodland. The woodland a habitat and home for some interesting wildlife and hosting a significant number of species both flora and fauna. In fact, the park's notice boards by the main entrance in Empress Way document and display one rare nationally iconic species of insect that thrive here in July, the STAG BEETLE . Plenty of comfortable seating along the footpath, offering some pleasant views of the church tower of 'THE ANNUNCIATION ' in the north and the spire of Chislehurst Methodist Church can be seen peering between the trees on Chislehurst Common to the east. The park entrance has a disabled entrance, the only toilet we came across is in 'THE ROOST' coffee shop at the centre of the park. Parking is at a premium in Empress Drive, a quiet private residential road. Empress Drive is reached via Willow Grove, off Chislehurst High Street. However, bus stops daytime service in the High Street Nos 61, 160, 161, 162, 273, and R7 are approximately 10 mins walking distance away from the park. Finally, well done to the brilliant Council Workers/groundsman London Borough of Bromley I assume...? we met in entering the park... ALEX, WILL, EAAN Euan forgive me Sir if I've misspelt your name?. Enjoyed our hearty, cheerful but very brief interesting chat. My praise goes to you all and your fellow workers in all the Greater London boroughs for doing such a fantastic job in the preservation and upkeep of Chislehurst Recreation Ground and the likes of every green space in and around the Capital for the public to enjoy. I salute you gentleman, keep up the great work... Well folks, if you are in Chislehurst and have a spare moment, time to relax and unwind then a visit here any time of year good. A good place to combine in a day itinerary of Chislehurst. Chris.
A local park used for general strolls and getting much needed fresh air. A basic open space with a kids play area, tennis courts and a cafe for drinks and snacks. Also close to Chislehurst High Street for local shops and restaurants.
Pleasant recreational area with lots of facilities, kids playground, and woodland areas that connect to the Walden Recreation Grounds. Though, a bit small and gets busier at times.
Good mix of playground , children play area and beautiful woods and a cherry on top of proactive garden club which adds extra delights to it's beauty
Cafe being opened makes it very attractive and with the ability to sit outside. However, disappointingly clear that the local youth are getting high and wrecking the good things with an upended flower box near a bench and gas canisters.
Lovely area woodland walk kids play area football pitch and a brilliant cafe
Wonderful place to spend time with kids.
