Chimaek is a cool Korean restaurant with an amazing selection of food. First and foremost you have to try their array of chicken. They have multiple flavours, each of which are packed full of flavour and succulent chicken. We also got their army bowl which is a nice dish for everyone to share from. Overall delicious food and nice staff. Price is okay too. Highly recommend!
From all I've heard about this place I was very excited to try it out but I was slightly disappointed. The chips were nothing fancy just your big standard frozen chips. The chicken although cooked very well was still a little boring. The coating and the sauce didn't do anything wow to the chicken. I like the addition of the daicon which gave it a nice crunch.
Is it just me or the chicken-coating-flavours quality at Chimaek have changed?? Had came here before and after last night experience, been questioning myself a lot They used to serve a really tasty coatings… but then again, was I imagining thing? Gut feeling tells..maybe there’s a shift in management maybe ‍. However, all in all, the chickens are tender and juicy, no doubt!
Great spot. Fresh and tasty food. Service was great. A little bit on the pricey side considering what your having but as a treat now and again it's great. Would absolutely recommend. The sauces are great and if your a chilli lover then get the hot sauce.
The food is very nice I’ve tried the kimchi burger and the Korean fried chicken they were both so good. It’s normally affordable but with inflation prices have gone up but you can’t blame the people so it’s alright. Edit: I tried the corn dog from here and I didn’t like it it was very oily and made me feel sick most of the food is still nice though would still recommend!!
Considering Korean fried chicken is one of my favourite foods, I have to say Chimaek does a pretty good job imitating this Korean dish. I would warn that the ‘sweet and spicy’ is really quite hot, but the ‘honey and garlic’ is a much better alternative. Portions are fairly generous too, I’d recommend the drumsticks
Small intimate setting. Busy Friday night but got a table fairly quickly. Very friendly service. All staff wear masks. Fried chicken thighs are soft and juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside and were fresh. I enjoyed the curry sprinkle one but I didn’t care for the honey and garlic/soy and garlic/sweet and spicy sauces. The honey and garlic was probably the best out of them personally. The problem I personally have with saucy chicken is that without the sauce the chicken is fairly bland Potato tornado was awful. Cold. Seemed old, completely saturated with oil and not crisp at all. Very tough to take off the stick. More like a Pakistani puri but stale and oily. Must be a bad day on that front as I’ve heard they’re normally very good Overall not as good as I had heard but definitely willing to go again and to try the corn dogs were sold out and fried tofu
Seriously good fried chicken, average accompaniments. Lunch menu is fair value for the quality. Fast service. The music is an acquired taste!
Chicken thighs were a bit smelly. Plus they didn't put a lot of sauce as well. It's like quite dry without the sauce. Eat in you pay more. KFC would be better at this price, smelly and sauce rate. I usually come to Chimaek whenever I am in town as I've been coming since Uni. But disappointed with last visit.
Both hot pot and chicken are good. The staff are friendly. Location is excellent, 5 minutes to Oxford train station. But if you go by metrolink tram, then the nearest station is St Peter square. A korean supermarket is nearby. This is convenient for Korean fans.
