They have some fantastic events and shows on, all absolutely ruined by the seating! Honestly how they expect people to sit there for hours with NO shoulder room at all is a joke. They seriously need to update the seating or at the very least, offer some 'premium' seating with more room.
Now seen a number of sessions in the Cheltenham Literature Festival at the town hall, and they have all gone very well. The view, unless you're unlucky, is generally good and the technical side has been fine. The seating is very basic and I wouldn't like to sit much over the hour. There are always loads of stewards to control the queueing and then help you to find your seat. Usually a good experience.
Nice venue with plenty of seating and well organised staff.nnThe seating isn't tiered as in a theatre, but we had seats near the front, so this wasn't a concern for us.nnWe found parking was free on a Sunday night around the side of the Town Hall which meant we only had a short walk.
Very disappointed with my bar experience this weekend at an event held at cheltenham Town Hall for Bingo Loco, this is the second time at the event and love it!nBut I don’t love getting ripped off with alcohol! Brought double Malibu and cokes at £9 each! and had x7 of these and I rarely drink so would expect to have some sort of effect from alcohol but didn't and left very sober so I’m very sure they put no or next to no alcohol in the drinks, very disappointing from the bar staff as there is such a mark up with drinks anyway so no need to rip people off like that.nWord of advice drink before or buy sealed drinks!
A beautiful venue and helpful staff. Evenings entertainment ruined by the inability of the sound crew to compensate for the accoustics ofvthe building. I found the singers voices echoing and being drowned out by the volume of the drums and guitars. Only one number was pleasurable acouctic the rest were ineligible.nShame there was no willingness to tone it down. The sound engineer blamed the venue, yet didn't compensate.
