Chapters Hotel is a boutique Hotel situated in the market town of Stokesley, at the foot of the North Yorkshire Moors.

A peaceful retreat which is within 30 minutes drive from the centres of Middlesbrough, Darlington and Northallerton.

Our Hotel is perfect for the business traveler or for those of you who fancy a well deserved break. Formerly a coaching inn, the Hotel is a unique and inspirational venue in a magnificent listed building dating back some 250 years.

The Market Bar & Grill is perfect for all occasions whether you are wanting to pop out for lunch or early tea, we are open from 12pm to 9pm. We also offer the option for luxury dining, special breaks, weddings, celebrations, and business meetings.

Great spot for a weekend away, friendly staff, great off-street parking for bikes Mr Grumpy opposite doesn't like bikers but wouldn't come in the bar to meet us face to face.nThe rooms are very clean and well equipped for your stay, I dropped a star because my shower worked but it was low pressure.nGood selection of beers and a great beer garden next to the river.nNo breakfast available but loads of local options to get some.
Booked in for Sunday Lunch 6th Oct '24 very enjoyable, tasty and warm. Served by Mia and James who were polite helpful and professional. Great food great experience and a fab place to chill out. Compliments to the owners Becky and Martin.
The leven is a nice hotel which is catered for by helpful staff. The presentation of all of the downstairs of the hotel is nicely done and looks modern and clean. However when you take the stairs up to the hotel rooms it is like going back 30 years in time. Not a problem in the corridor and there is a sign up on the wall saying that they are in the middle of a long refurb process, but when we entered our room, room 9, this was no better. The bed was comfortable but everything else about the room was not to a standard i would normally accept. The bathroom was the main area of overall tiredness / dirtyness. The toilet was coming off the wall, the bath seal was mouldy and had clearly been touched up with mastic numerous times. The shower was cold only and had no power behind it whatsoever and the shower screen leaked so the floor was soaked by the end of the shower.nnWe were staying as part of a group and the other rooms our group had in fairness where lovely, modern clean and had clearly had some money spent on them, perhaps i was just unlucky but when we all paid the same rate for the rooms i was left disappointed and would probably not return again until the full hotel has finished refurb
Excellent Indian restaurant part of hotel. All staff friendly and welcoming. Room clean and well presented. Still in the process of upgrading the hotel so small areas that needed some work to be excused. I would use again
Leven Hotel, Stokesley - Stay 4 -13 June 2022 cost £790 paid in cash - wish I had paid by card so I could have disputed the charge. The room on closer inspection was not clean. The bed had a very thin matrass on wooden boards and was very uncomfortable, the window timber was rotting and difficult to keep open for ventilation and carpet was stained and smelly.nWe were told that the bedrooms had been recently refurbished. But they were far from complete, we had no wardrobe and 3 hangers on a hook behind the bathroom door for 9 nights while staying for a family wedding. The lack of wardrobe - reason from management {Rebecca was they were removed because tradesmen were using them as toilets while drunk at night. The bathroom although spacious had the worst flow of tepid water to its shower I've ever come across, and got no sympathy or fix. The bathroom was not fit for purpose.nThe TV was cheap and remote was not working, and battery replacement took about 1.5 days to sort due to absence of staff at reception. There was a continental breakfast that Rebecca advised was not contractual but was available to guests, which was okay OJ, cereal,toast, tea/coffee but somedays the bread/muffin were out of date and stale. On last morning I asked Martin partner to Rebecca to get her to discuss our stay for a partial refund, he said she would definitely speak to me in 30 mins before I left, but guess what, she never appeared or attempted to contact me. Parking was acceptable on cobble off street parking, but on certain days you have to move to alternative parking due to market day, warning no assistance from Leven Hotel. The staffing is very limited and so feeling comfortable about the star rating is not possible and a complete fabrication. I wrote a review in July 2022 after our holiday had completed but it seems to have disappeared so I felt I needed to warn people thinking of staying here to consider some very nice AirBnB around Stokesley at Sexhow, Gt Ayton, Carlton-in-Cleveland which we have used for the last 2 years. This is the worst hotel with the worst management which is a catastrophic mixture and the only victim is the clients staying there.
