Great concept for an Indian restaurant. Served in a traditional thali style selection of different curries We pretty much had everything they had to offer on our visit. Most starters, mains and drinks. We went during eat out to help out, but I’d HAPPILY pay the full price. It’s still great value for money at full price, let alone at 50% cheaper ! Staff are friendly ! I really enjoyed their keema minced meat curry, samosa and pakoras. Their chicken curry is delicious too. The ordering system isn’t great as I had to remind the staff what I ordered each time I ordered a course. They kept forgetting sauces, dips etc which can be quite frustrating . Hence the 4/5 stars.
We were recommended to try Chapati Cafe by our house mate and chef, Milan. The food was all freshly prepared on the day, served hot and extremely tasty. We went on a Sunday evening around 19:30h admittedly not exactly a peak time and the service was instant. Both of the staff explained the dishes, answered any questions we had and were very friendly. 10/10 satisfied with the food, cleanliness, and value for money. Will definitely be returning and would highly recommend you give this place a try if you like curry or are inquisitive to taste something amazing!
Tasty food and preferably combination of masalas are too good.Masala tea is very nice.Amount of food in exact quantity to make the day refurbish.Friendly employess.
Tried 2 Veg and 1 Meat thali. It tasted delicious. Suggestion in thali to include bit of rice and salad too for a fraction of money will make look thali meal more pleasing and filling. Price for 3 Veg thali is £6.45 and Meat thali is £6.95.
There are far more expensive places serving far worse food than this lovely little joint. You do have to get past the plastic seating and realise this is the simple, nutritious and fresh Indian street food for what it is. Skip the meat curries- you won't miss it!
Authentic flavoursome well priced. I took my aunt who was visiting from India & she loved it which says alot! Why not 5 stars I hear you ask? Because they didn't have any Chapatis!
If you want to sample "rice and three"curries for under £7 this is your place. Also have various other things on the menu such as curry wraps and lamb chops. The decor is basic but the staff are lovely and the food is cooked freshly daily with different curries every day. Also breakfast is served from 10am the cafe is open until 8pm. Choice of vegetarian and/ or meat curries
I visited this cafe with family and we ordered different curries which were ready made and kept worm on the counter. It’s not made on order and that’s why the menu changes daily. They make the food early in the day and then they put it on the counter in a large pots. May be the food was made on the day or may be days before, you can’t tell. The curries taste below average and the quantity is too little served in a cheap metal trays. The prices are too expensive for this modest cafe. I found a small rubber piece in one samosa and told the lady who was behind the counter and she took it to Dan in the back. Dan came and apologised and said we don’t make theses samosa, we buy them from the wholesaler Shezan. Which means that’s even the samosas are not freshly made by them. They took the price of samosas off the bill. I wouldn’t recommend this place at all.
If I could give this place 4.75/5 I would. We went for lunch this week and ordered a veg thali with chappatis. The food was 5/5 excellent! Paneer was gorgeous and the dhaal perfectly Spiced. Flavours were just like mum used to make, and the chappatis lovely, thin and soft. Literally my only gripe is that the decor is a bit grey; which really pulls the atmosphere down a bit. I would love to see the interior decor made a bit more warm and cosy and perhaps some nice music too? That would complete the dining experience imo!
One of the best meal I had in Manchester. Being Gujarati, it is closest food I found here. Phudinamint chutney was super tasty. Chaptati could have been better. In India, those are more fluffy and smaller in size.
