About

Central School of Ballet was founded by Christopher Gable CBE and Ann Stannard in 1982. The Senior School course is one of the most comprehensive dance programmes in the country, and the only one to offer a BA(Hons) in Professional Dance & Performance.

Story

The Senior School course is one of the most comprehensive dance programmes in the country, and helps students go on to careers in classical ballet, contemporary dance and musical theatre.

Mission

The founders wanted a school that valued the artistic expression in dance, as well as the importance of technique.

Products

In 1984 Ballet Central was formed as a touring company to give final year students firsthand experience of professional dance. This has provided great training for Central students, who are recognised in their subsequent careers for their maturity and professionalism.

I do not recommend this “school of ballet “ ask them what companies they actually have placed any dancers into. Or even better ask them why they don’t provide information about recent achievements of ex students. A degree in dances isn’t worth the paper it’s written on and when your student fails to obtain a job in the ballet industry! They will need A levels. Something Central doesn’t provide because it’s all about foreign students and making money. The RB upper school understands this and all its students study A levels. We speak from experience with this so called ballet school and I would advise to look elsewhere.
Lovely teachers, great studios in the new building. The new location is much better for me. Any adult class you choose is a high quality - the Teachers are really good and experienced. The only thing is customer service - specifically a guy who works there on Sunday is quite unpleasant and rude. It would be good to take other dance studios as an example and ensure impeccable customer service.
CAREFUL, if you leave anything these, it’s chucked, they say the cleaners just get rid of things they found, so definitely doesn’t feel like a safe place, just be mindful of all your belongings
I have been using CSB for a month and I need to say that it exceeded my expectations. I am currently attending ''beginners' ballet'' classes with David Kierce and, if I could, I would give 10 stars. He pushes you and gives lots of energy to the classes that you really feel like rehearsing for a ballet show!
Friendly, organised and professional. My son has really enjoyed the ballet classes here.
Amazing classes, really lovely teachers. Got me back in dance again and really grateful to have found this venue.
