I’m a patient myself my treatment here has been phenomenal and my mental health is much better than it was they should keep the hospital open
This psychiatric hospital provides 24/7 care for those who need it, with nurses, doctors, occupational therapists and healthcare assistants on grounds to help out. The views are beautiful and local people often walk their dogs on the grounds.
very kind caring nurses though i was a bit concerned about the safeguarding Team jumping to erroneous conclusions about safe guarding at our home as a reason to detain my daughter who rang me every day begging to come home and to be freed...however the excessive quantity of drugs meant that she appeared zombie like and therefore in the eyes of assessors was not fit to be freed!! I feel that the psychs are creating patients by over zealous use of meds that are proven to cause movement disorders such as Parkinsons and thus the patients appear to be drunk and shuffling along and so look mad when in fact they are being over medicated........as soon as I got my daughter relocated to Oxford her meds were halved and she became fully compos mentis again and so was released form a detention ordeal......it just shows that a sane person can be locked up and never freed due to the huge amounts of drugs making them appear not fully sane....my daughter has developed a blood reading CONSIDERED ABNORMAL DUE TO THE DRUGS AND IF IT DOES NOT RECTIFY ITSELF WE SHALL BE SUING................. but anyway lovely nursing staff who are doing their best
Not a place you would wish to send much if any time in, but if you need to be there it's a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to the sort of experience you have. It's due to close in the future and it's a resource that will probably be missed in retrospect. The wards are warm, clean and safe. You meet people of all different ages and experiences. Having said that, it's obviously not a warm and fuzzy place to be. Staff do the best they can under difficult circumstances at times. Good food and adequate care but when they discharge you they don't provide any transport which can be a pain if you don't live locally.
Not a place you would ever want to be in. My mum was suffering from severe psychosis and was convinced I was going to hurt her. Actually I’ll say it as it is, she thought me and my father were going to murder her. She rang the police at 2am without our knowledge and couldn’t get in the back of that police car quick enough. The police told us they were going to take her to cefn coed. As anyone with a loved one who is trying to get help for them, will know it’s near impossible. So as sad as we were, we knew she was going to the right place and were relieved. So when we had a phone call from my aunt the next morning telling us that my mother was there with her at her house, we were dumbfounded. Basically when my mum got to cefn coed she was in full psychosis and was left to sit alone for quite a while and then was seen by two Drs. Then next thing they’re asking my mum who she can call to come get her?? So at 6am she rang my aunt and so my uncle collected her because she was too afraid to ring my dad because he was trying to murder her. How ill do you have to be to get the help??? Absolutely disgusting place. Nothing is really done to help people. Stick you on meds, watch you for a bit then kick you out because the bed is needed. Awful and underfunded place.
Shame about a nurse having to commit suicide because there was allot going on. Treat staff better and the pacients. And from what I read on reviews, you guys are a bad mental health hospital. Do something about it.
Cefn coed is a hell holehole and with no regard for healing. The staff at best do nothing, at worst actively wind up and even assault patients. It should of been closed years ago and the abusers been prosecuted.
Looks extremely run down ,not fit for people of any sort let alone vunrable patients .Allot of paitens have deceased in this building. too right bulding should be knocked down.
21:48 staff ward 6 laughing at cctv footage of an admission interview with 'patient' clearly in distress. Fine tax spent
It's a real shame they're knocking this down to make way for the cancer of modern housing. Lovely building. Should be kept for another purpose.
