Lovely staff. The food was nice. Fish and chips tasty and nice portion. Lentil hotpot was lovely and hot. House wine was also very good. In overall we enjoyed it.
We had a lovely date night at the Castlewood the other day. We ordered the Vegan chicken smothered in BBQ sauce, vegan cheese and vegan bacon. It came with chips, salad and a vegan Slaw. I was very excited for it and although I didn't like the Slaw personal preference, I imagine it was made well enough the rest was lovely. My only complaint was that the BBQ sauce wasn't added. When I asked the waiter about it he said he would ask and then never returned. I'm not that bothered though it was still nice. We had the vegan black forest sundae after and that was amazing! Very much enjoyed by us both.
All the tables were taken so we were directed to the bar seating area, which they use as overflow tables for the restaurant, where a waitress was with us in minutes. My son had a steak pie and mash, he said it compared with the best he'd had, I had their basic cheeseburger with bacon as standard meal, which was great, no chewy, grisly beef in the pie or the burger. Ample parking with plenty disabled spaces. There's also a great, secure play area for children with a small charge, with cctv to the dining areas. I will definitely return, in fact my daughter's just booked seating to celebrate my grandsons birthday.
I had the carvery late on a Sunday. I really should have looked at it before ordering. It was awful. Everything was dry, the meat was grisly as it was the last bits. If I was the manager, I would have closed the carvery down much earlier. I had higher hopes for other meals that my family had, however, most left some and said they didn't really enjoy it for different reasons. We did decide to try the puddings, unfortunately again most family members did not enjoy them. We are not a picky family or picky eaters, but I'm sorry to say the food today was not up to scratch. The upside. The staff were amazing! All of the ones we spoke to or had dealings with were fantastic and so helpful. They brought the Birthday cake out for my grandson and even sang Happy Birthday to him with us... and they even gave him a present. We could not want for better service. The atmosphere was good and it's great to bring the children so they can play in the play area. If the food was better, it would be a brilliant place. Unfortunately, the food for us sorely let it down. Fingers crossed, the food is better next time. A huge thank you to all the staff... You are amazing. Very nice. Stopped for lunch on a Monday. Service was great, very quick and easy. Nice staff. Food was good, hot and good portion sizes. Clean and not loud. plenty of parking.Food: 5/5
A rather average meal. Kitchen forgot the sauce on the Prawn Cocktail, and Fish was a little soggy. But it wasn't bad enough to complain or not want to come back again. The Sweet Potato Fries were Amazing! And the drinks reasonably priced.
This was our regular place and visited at least weekly prior to the pandemic. We decided to give it a go and come back now that restrictions have been lifted but we wish we hadn't. Service was shocking and we waited 55 mins between our starter and main course. Noone advised that there was any wait We asked twice and were told we were next to be plated up but still nothing. The quality & presentation of food isn't as good as it used to be nor the taste especially after such a long wait. What was supposed to be a treat out after 18 months under restrictions was ruined and not at all enjoyable. We used to absolutely love this place but going by tonight's visit we won't be back.
Went for the breakfast buffet! Staff are very friendly, excellent food and big outside area to run the calories off with the little ones! Indoor soft play too but it wasn't open. They offer great deals for kids parties too!Food: 5/5
Terrible. Booked in for 19.45. Took 15 minutes to get seated, and we only got seated because I had to kick off, as a couple who came in after us got seated straight away. Then when we got up to order, we were informed it would be an hours wait for food. No, thank you!
16 family members went today for a meal sorted by Justin and we had a brilliant time.A big shout out to Megan a real asset to the pub for all her help in sorting everything. A great time had by all,great food,great staff ,Will be back
