We went for Sunday lunch last week desperately hoping that the new owners would do us proud. We need a good pub in this village and it’s a prime spot. Unfortunately this wasn’t to be. The owner and staff are wonderful, friendly and very approachable unlike the previous ones however the lunch was disappointing. It was only a couple of things and I don’t like doing this but I think feedback is important. The food was not hot, only slightly warm, the beef was chewy, the vegetables were so overcooked they were mushy and their wines not up to standard. Sorry! But I know they have the experience and energy to get it right and I’m going to continue to support the pub because it really could become an amazing place and venue
Went across for a drink with my daughter and son in law this evening at 7.25 pm Sunday 21st Dec only to be told they were closing at 7.30 If we could consume our drinks in 5 minutes we would be served. There were a number of other customers present who clearly would not be finished by 7.30. If this is the new owners trying to encourage new business I fear for the future of The Castle l. Probably the most unwelcome I’ve ever been made to feel in a pub. Extremely disappointed and will not be returning
What a fantastic pub this is under new ownership. Wide selection of drinks, delicious food and Sunday roasts. Many events. And did I forget to mention that the bar service is fantastic? Thanks for breathing life into our village pub and making it what it should have been!
Best chunky chips I have ever had. I am a skinny fries person but these chips are double fried and so perfecly chrispy and fluffy in the middle.nI have called in a few times recently because they have changing real ales in excellent condition.nIt was a soggy Saturday lunchtime and I wanted a snack to tide me over. Not only did I have the best chips ever I also had an amazing peice of home made bread pudding.nI am definatly going back for Sunday lunch before Christmas.
Appalling service. No heat in the rooms on a freezing night and no response when we called the emergency number. No staff on duty. No apology the next day. No response to emails. Shocking lack of care. One of our party was immune compromised and suffered horribly all night with the CD. Never stay here again.
