Nice place to stop for lunch after completing the 8 miles circular walk if the reservoir. The restaurant is clean, bright and has wonderful views over the reservoir. The menu was good with additional daily specials also available. Drinks arrived a while before the food and the tea and coffee were both good, however the hot chocolate was very weak and lacked any real taste. For lunch we ordered sandwiches and bowls of chips and the quality of the food was good. On departure we bought some cakes to take home with us and these were all good. Well worth visiting if your at Carsington Water.
Easy to follow route 8.2 miles around the reservoir follow the red arrowed signposts was a warm day with a light breeze across the reservoir. I brought a picnic but there are plenty of food/ snack options. Clean tidy toilet facilities.
A really pleasant place to go with your family. Great views and safe walking areas. Shops are fairly expensive so take a packed lunch
This is Carsington Reservoir. It has a visitor centre and cafe. There is a walking and cycle path around the reservoir with some scenic views.
Fantastic place to go for lunch with a beautiful view. Food was fast and lovely, not pricey at all. Kid-friendliness: Good choice of menu for kids, not just the usual sausage, chicken nuggets etc but a nice choice. Parking: Parking is always dear, if your only going for less than an hour. But worth it if your spending the day there and there is generally always space. Wheelchair accessibility: There is a lift available for wheelchair users, which is easy to get to and the rest of the site is all accessible. Dietary restrictions: There is a good choice for the majority of dietary requirements. Excellent food
Excellent facilities, restaurant and parking, the full walk was good
Our second time ever at Carsington Water today, with our last visit probably being about 10 years ago. We ate here then & today. Service, food & value so great. Well done - the choice is good, & it's so busy yet so calm. A restaurant full of happy diners. Vegetarian options: I had the falafels & enjoyed them. The fennel slaw with them was lovely.
Brilliant place for a walk even in January, lovely views over the water and over the hills to the side. Good place to take your dogs for a walk too, there's also a couple of play areas for the kids so all in all a good day out. Don't forget to pay for your parking on the way out as the car parks have ANPR and £5 for the day seems fair to me.
I had a portion of chips, which were really nice and, an oat milk latte. The latte was surprisingly good, being creamy-tasting and frothy. The lady taking orders at the counter was lovely; very helpful when I told her I'm gluten free and vegetarian. She fetched some gf lemon drizzle cake from the back for me. I'd definitely recommend this café to anyone. Vegetarian options: There's plenty of options for vegetarians, both sweet and savoury. Parking: There are plenty of disabled parking spaces, right next to the visitor centre. Wheelchair accessibility: The site is level, and there's an accessible toilet. Dietary restrictions: A bit limited, but I did really enjoy my chips! There were two types of gf cake available. There was a sign with the sandwiches and cobs which said that gf bread was available on asking.
Arrived on a very wet day to be greeted with a lovely array of food and drinks all served with a friendly and cheerful smile. On a sunny day I am sure the views are amazing will definitely go again when back in the area.Food: 4/5
