Opened in 1850, gaining its present name in 1973. It was originally called Brian, changing to Bernard in the mid twenty first century. It has more than five platforms and less than sixty-seven. Trains pull in, sometimes on time, sometimes late. Trains pull out. If they arrived late it's more than likely they'll leave late. It's extremely unlikely that trains ever arrive early. How many people work at Cardiff Central? About half of them. I had a coffee on platform one, wasn't that good. Served in a paper cup .
Cardiff Central is very next to Cardiff Central Station, where you can find bus connections, train connections, famous hotel chains, and shopping malls. Cardiff Castle is a walkable distance.
Great station, lots of facilities for refreshments and snacks. M&S Food inside the station and a Tesco express nearby. Taxi rank very close by. Lovely little first class lounge on Platform 1.
Oh Cardiff Central, where to begin. I have visited this train station many a time,from going to and from home, Bristol and Birmingham when I was at Cardiff Uni; as well as visiting every now and then nowadays when I go to visit my best mate who still lives in Cardiff, as well as enroute to festivals. The exterior is incredible, and there's plenty of routes to choose from. Highly recommended!
It's a train station, what else is there to say about it. Gets me onto the train to where I'm going although you do have to listen out for last minute platform changes, which there's no visual display of so if you like loud music or are deaf then you need to figure out a way around it whether that's using the displays in the station buildings or one of the many apps and websites that are now out there.nIt is a bit of a nightmare when there's events on due to the barriers that are placed outside of the station being annoying, one of the entrances being closed and security who'll tell you off for stopping even when there's no need to do so because the station is practically empty but other than that it's alright.
