Sharp unit is only for patients under 65 for rehabilitation of stroke or brain injuryi spent 5month there for stroke rehabilitation it was hard experience physically and mentally.I would say it is a good place to get recovery very flexible suitseveryone'sneedalmost
Majority of staff are excellent. Those that aren't ruin it for everyone else. Far too negatively focused. With the type of injury you're likely to have, positivity can go a long way. However, too many members of staff try to convince you that you're going to suffer, far more intensely than you need to and for a greater amount of time than you need to too. Keeping positive with hope is so important. Unfortunately, not to everyone that works at Cameron Hospital
I was in the balgonie ward for four months. The nurses and carers were really nice and it was great getting to know them. The doctors were useless, they might have well not been there, especially the consultant. He was a little erse that wouldn’t listen to me and would just keep taking me off pain relief medication until all I was on was paracetamol and a ibuprofen gel. I was in agony during the last few weeks I was there and they didn’t do anything. The “doctors” have no clue what they or the other one is doing. The nurses, carers, the physiotherapists and the occupational therapist are all stars and I thank them for taking care of me and having a laugh with me when I was in a pretty bad place. Thank you to you all if they ever read this.
George Sharp unit staff great with wife, but the conditions of the hospital is WOrld War one Era ,, shame on our health board. Forth park a newer hospital is going to ROT, Free Parking at the VIC, WHY ? The Revenue could re build Cameron. Patients Meals Sorry SLOP Made in WALES, driven 300 miles up to Here for us Jocks !! They have great cooks and staff who could feed the patients at the Cameron Kitchens. But there again Prisons get more funding than hospital food. Strange Eh !!
My dear wife suffered a severe stroke in the Victoria Hospital in 2009 and was transferred to the Sir George Sharp unit at the Cameron Hospital where she received first class care and attention from every member of staff , booth my self and my family have great respect for each and every member of staff and cant thank them enough for their kindness and everything they did for my lovely wife . Yours John Miller
Spent 4 weeks at the Letham Ward . They truly are amazing, caring staff who go the extra mile to help in the rehabiltion process, the nurses, Physiotherapists, Speech and Language, OTs are among the best that the NHS offer.
Mother admitted .Could not believe it and have to agree with above the nursing staff were mostly unbelievably unfriendly, unhelpful and unsympathetic.Could not get in at visiting time on a regular basis in the visiting hour despite travelling a great distance to see her.The building as we all know is atrocious and has been set for closure for some time. From my experience it could not happen quick enough.Screaming patients left to scream we had to endure and so did my mother 24/7.I do not know what else to say. I feel sorry for any decent staff left in there because they must be going through hell watching this. The nurses in charge were aggressive confrontational and downright rude until we eventually stopped making an effort as they ignored us.This was because we had the audacity to complain about not being allowed in 5 nights in a row and they never even apologised or explained too us just left us locked out until we asked before getting a rude reply with noexplanation or apology..Sleeping medication given 2 hours late and wakening the patient up to administer, 55 minutes to get to go to the toilet as too busy. Left unattended with other mentally ill patient who attacked my Mother are just a few of the HORRIFIC experiencies we had too endure.Glad she is out and heaven help us if she needs to be readmitted. We pray not and the people administering the punishment on those poor old souls, Treated like something on the* sole* of their boots should look forward to our Lord giving them what they deserve in due course. Sorry to be so negative but this is the truth believe me and the first time I have ever filled in one of these reviews.I left a copy of Florence Nigthtingale for their perusal. I am sure it will be in the bucket.Traumatised !
one of the best the staff are dedicated to their patients at the sir George sharp unit for rehabilitation i could not fault them or the support teams while the building is in need of refurb the staff do an amazing job while working in theses conditions not just supporting the patient and working with them but the family as well all patients in the unit receive the best care ive experienced it first hand and the after care has been very good these guys deserve a medal for the work they do and the difference they make to peoples life's
The staff in the ward that I was in were tremendous nothing was a problem for them although having said that I wish they had kept me for a little longer
