Brought jerk chicken n tasted like it was stewed on stove! Was not barbecued or have a smoke taste! To it at all Very disappointed
Came in today with a relative to buy food, nothing too special. The patty contained more pastry than filling. The ackee & saltfish was packed poorly as oil was leaking from the bag; in other Carribean restaurants, cling film would be wrapped to prevent leakage. Customer service was also poor as the server was talking on their phone whilst my relative asked a question about the food; honestly wouldn't rate this place.
Very very poor service. Shabby. Haven’t been here in several years since previous experiences were not great. Wanted to support my cultural food, so thought I’d try again. Surely they must have improved. Smh. Sadly, still not good. Customer Service poor. Having ordered, it took ages for food to be dished out, and the person serving was clearly inexperienced and unaware of how to distinguish between portion sizes. Another staff member had to top up portion after I complained. Even worse though, taste of soup was lacking, and meat/gravy proportion in meal was poor as was the taste. Sorry, can’t recommend at all.
Jerk chicken was tasty but very very spicy! Just be warned if you aren't used to spice as much. Fritters were good but had to remove a lot of the oil. Mac and cheese was great. Portion size was very generous especially considering the low prices!
The best Carribean food by far! I have eaten from here many times and never ever been disappointed. Everything from jerk chicken to escovitch to oxtail is cooked with expertise and love. I have to say I am a fan of this place to the point that I recommend it to just about everyone I know. Soups are on point, fish is on point, I adore their oxtail and butter beans and curry goat - my favourites. Lovely dumplings and stewed fish. Hard food is cooked just right....I really cannot say a bad word about this place. They deserve a lot of praise!
Excellent food. Very homely. My personal favourite is the brown chicken stew. Wish they did smaller portions for ladies. I cannot manage such huge portions for lunch. Also considering the local demographics it would be better business to serve halal food.
The staff are incredibly rude. If you hate your job or don’t like dealing with customers leave!! I try to support black business but it’s hard when the women in this restaurant are constantly giving attitude and giving poor service. The food was bland it had no flavour at all. Stop employing rude people your company will go down, we are in a middle of a crisis they are lucky people are still coming to eat there. I do not think this restaurant will last after a second wave of covid as they are horrible and there food is nasty. If you ask one question about their food they give you a plate of bones like we are in the early 1900s in Jamaica. The Stratford branch is always banging. Do not go the ilford one unless u want to eat like a dog.
Food isn’t as good as it used to be. Jerk chicken lacked a kick and was watery..more like gravy chicken instead of jerk. Service is also very sluggish. On the positive, portions are large and food is affordable.
I would give it a 10 out of 5 if I could the food and service was that good. Authentic Caribbean food and typically West Indian hospitality! The best we have had outside the Caribbean itself. A taste of the Caribbean in the UK. You will not be disappointed.
