My wife and daughter booked the Capercaillie Cabin for my 70th birthday. It was extremely good with a wood burning fire and nearly all mod cons ( no washing machine) but the setting was exceptional and although restaurants were a bit far away the food was good and always fresh. We did not like the service in a restaurant in the Commercial Hotel, Tarland. However the Boat Inn in Aboyne made up for that. We also had our 14 month old labrador who was in his seventh heaven in the woods and the burn in particular. Owners and staff very pleasant and helpful and I hope we can return someday in the not too distant future.
