We finally arrived at our final destination - Ballater - after doing 256 miles in the saddle from Edinburgh! We followed the Deeside Way (Route 195) from Aberdeen - 44.5 miles some of which was tough going up and over the forest at Banchory. So we arrived late again looking really done in. We were greeted at the door by Angela who turned out to be the hostess with the mostess! It was like arrriving home! When we got inside it was a bit of a shock - it looks quite small from the outside but in actual fact it was like Doctor Who's Tardis - the property is huge on the inside. Our bikes were safely stored in one of the hallways. Our twin room was comfortable warm and clean, and the bathroom was a decent size. Angela's personallity and sense of humour was fantastic and we got on like a house on fire. Nothing was too much trouble and we were constantly being asked if we wanted or needed anything. We must have looked really tired because Angela said she does breakfast between 8 & 9am normally but said we could come down late if we wanted a lie in and she'd still do our breakfast for us. We only booked one night originally but we liked it so much that we stayed another night and was glad of the rest. It was actually like staying with a favourite relative. In fact I have adopted Angela as my Aunty and hope to visit again in the near future. We love you Angela you are a star!!!

The Netherley Guesthouse is nicely located in the middle of Ballater, next door to the Glenmuick Parish Church. Despite this, it is very quiet as ballater is a small town. Rooms are spacious and rather clean. Hosts are very friendly and well organised. Scottish breakfast was good. If you arrive by car, there is plenty of parking space on the road, even in front of the guest house if you are lucky. Despite the small size, Ballater offers a good choice of Restaurants and you can look at all menus at the entrance of the guest house. There is a pub located next door to the guest house which offers a good choice of beers and whiskies and seem to be well-populated by locals. We would be happy to come back to Netherley Guesthouse!

Irréprochable, merci pour un acceuil aussi chaleureux. Ou l'on parle du bout du monde, de l'Australie et d'ailleurs...dans ce petit BandB du bout d'Ecosse.
