I really, really wanted to love this restaurant. I went here with my partner for our 1 year anniversary, and we'd been meaning to go ever since we saw the flaming torches outside! We were seated at a lovely table, but it was a bit close to these two older ladies for my comfort, as I felt they were within my "bubble" so to speak. The waitress was absolutely lovely, and was very patient when we took ages to order. The food itself? My partner adored it, but I just couldn't help but be a little disappointed. I was really expecting more of a wow factor for the price point and the size of the portion. Don't get me wrong, if it either cost less or had more food I would've been ecstatic, but everything together just made it a little underwhelming. However, once the ladies left and we'd had a couple glasses of wine, overall it was a lovely night, and we're considering going again to try the set menu. Kid-friendliness: Surprisingly kid-friendly, there were children and babies in the restaurant when I went.
We were here for a family celebration for a dinner. It is a nice place with few tables outside as well. We choose to sit inside as the weather was warm and we wanted to see how is the kitchen working. We were welcomed by a lovely lady who served us that night. The menu has a wide variety so there were not an issue to find something interesting for us. We ordered a few appetisers as well as mains. The waiting time was not long at all, so we were not hungry for a long time. The food tasted as good as it looked. Everything had a nice taste and we quickly demolished our food. Definitely recommend this place for a nice dinner with friends or family. But you should book as they busy most of the time.
We went out to celebrate after my friends passed driving test. We really enjoyed the ambience, services and the food. There was a paid parking North lane car park, we parked in station car park since it was cheaper beside the restaurant. One of the restaurant to visit in Canterbury for a real treat for your taste buds.Food: 5/5
Came here spontaneously and was pleasantly surprised. Service was good, very friendly staff. The food exceeded expectations and was very tasty, especially the squid salad starter and the duck main. We also ordered a pizza which was also very nice. My only criticism would be that the portion sizes were a little on the small side, but was somewhat made up for by tasting great. Another side note is that the tables were a touch on the small side for a party of 4 and we kept bumping elbows.
Amazing kick in the sense!! We went to Cafe du Soleil without a previous book. We didn't what to expect. Surprisingly all food is delicious and has delightful flavours. Excellent choice on the menu. The special lamb shank looks amazing! The decoration is relaxing, with plants separating you from other guests, giving you some privacy. The hosts are politely friends. Reasonable prices. Definitely return!!
Found this a couple of years ago and finally were able to go, booking was really easy Online and parking is just outside but really expensive at £4.20 for 2 hours , not the cafes faulty but something to take on board when booking restaurants, good disabled parking, Entrance is nice and flat either outside or inside, very wheelchair accessible, we dedicated to sit inside as it was 38 degrees outside, welcomed nicely and asked where we wanted to sit , this was nice , we decided to sit out the way in a nice cook spot by the wall, Menu was good enough choices , I had the lamb and the wife had the chicken with some garlic bread for starters. I really enjoyed the lamb and was asked how I would like it, bonus as lost of restaurant don’t ask, the atmosphere was nice and pleasant, the meals were very filling , I did mention the pesto was a big to much but the meal was delicious, a little after we had finished we had sticky toffee pudding which was nice but didn’t need the two pecans, no option of custard through the ice cream was nice. They had decaf coffee which my wife enjoyed , checked the toilet to see how disabled friendly it was, the disabled is big enough for a average wheelchair to be moved around, one thing . The ladies had a baby changer in it but the men’s didn’t, think in this day and age this might have been different. Prices are competitive and the food was excellent, only thing to let it down was on booking I mention in the information box it was our 21st wedding anniversary and this wasn’t picked up, so that’s why the 4 stars and not the 5 and I don’t like the option of service charging of a party of 6 or more, think this should be incorporated in wages not on a family of 7. Would definitely recommend and would go age in the future.
Absolutely fabulous restaurant. Went with friends, before a show at the Marlow. Decor is lovely, service friendly and very efficient. Great choice on the menu for both meat eaters, vegetarian and vegan. All of our food was excellent. Will definitely be returning
I came here with my mother to celebrate her belated birthday. It was by far the best wood fire cuisine I have ever been to. The restaurant itself sits right by the water's edge and you have to walk over the little bridge to get to the front door, the front doors were made out of glass and already very welcoming. Once inside we were greeted and sat down immediately. The service was absolutely wonderful we had a lovely waiter called Elisa everybody should request to have her as a waiter when they come here. Elisa was very friendly and extremely attentive she clocked we were dressed up and asked us if there was a special occasion to which I replied 'it's mum's belated birthday night out.' Elisa was right there whenever we needed something. She deserves all the tips she can get! Oh, I almost forgot about the food. For starters, we had the Crispy Calamari Salad and the Four Ducks which actually goes very well together if you're sharing. Then for our main course, we both had the Rump Steak Burger which was equally as good as the starter, we had Fries on the side which were cooked to perfection and I wish I had room for more. To finish off we had dessert, mum had Vanilla Cheesecake & Passion Fruit and I had Chocolate & Coconut Cream Ganache. I must say that I preferred my Chocolate & Coconut Cream Ganache. Elisa surprised us with a candle stick in mums Vanilla Cheesecake & Passion Fruit dessert which was quite warming. Overall we had a fantastic time, we left with huge smiles on our faces and continued laughing down the road on our way to the theatre. I'd come back in a heartbeat! The restaurant, food and service were just as good if not better than some of the restaurants I've been to in London and at least I didn't have to fork out £300+ for the same amount of value. Highly recommend.
Easy to do booking online. Follow up confirmation and reminder day before. Not keen initially on the 2hrs rule but didn't affect our beautiful meal and drinks. Staff very attentive and will definitely be returning. Thankyou
Wonderfully prepared and served food which was absolutely tasty . The salmon and crab sushi was amazing, steak was excellent especially the sauce. The service was spot on too. Totally recommend restaurant if you are a food guru.
