Very good experience! There was no free inside table when we walked in. We were offered to wait outside on the seaside terrace and asked inside as soon as a table was available. Cake was very good. Coffee too. Beautifully decorated shop. Nice toilets with a secluded corner for a changing table and a chair for nursing. Kids menue and babyccino available. Access to the beach just across the street and big playground around the corner.
Covid restrictions in place, booking tables in advance is not available so a queuing system is in place currently. Didn't wait very long at all to be seated. Menu choice for breakfast was great and the prices were good value, food and drinks served quickly, one staff member allocated per table, Crystal was very attentive and helpful. Lovely decor and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend.
Cafe 19 has recently been taken over by cullercoats coffee and refurbished inside. We visited on the first Saturday they were open under this new brand, having visited previously. I ordered bacon pancakes and asked for a side of scrambled egg, my partner opting for a full English. I have to say I was disappointed in my meal. There were 2 bits of fatty bacon on top of the pancakes, which were dry by the time I got to the bottom a pot of syrup needed on the side I think. The eggs didn’t arrive and I didn’t think it worth the effort to ask for them. The full English was lacking toast, this should be included or at least make it an extra for 50p or something. Took a while to pay once we had asked for the bill. Overall I wouldn’t rush back to this local establishment now it’s under new management.
It was good. The food was served quickly. I really enjoyed my American pancake stack. The coffee wasn't that good but I applaud them on their extensive coffee menu. Wish there was an option to add milk into the alcoholic coffees as mine was too strong. Maybe add the options for frappes ? Good serving sizes, clean tables and toilets. Option to sit outside. Dog friendly. The one thing that let this place down was the waiting time to receive the bill.
Very relaxed vibe. Dog friendly. Lovely friendly staff. I had the buttermilk pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup - scrumptious! The coffee is excellent too. Sea views add even more to the experience. Very happy customer.
I used to like this cafe as it’s local and I would often recommend it however, recently I gave my dog a treat whilst sitting outside and was what felt like “told off” for giving my dog a dog treat. I will use it again as all of the staff except this particular lady are always so pleasant and food and drink is lovely. Felt a little let down especially as I think she may be a manager and should lead by example with customer care. Apart from this we have always enjoyed our meals/snacks here
Had a delicious breakfast from here pre lockdown and we cannot wait to go back. The staff are a little busy, but the sun was out and the place was packed. Sometimes I get a little annoyed at the quality of breakfasts and think that I could be better, hot and very tasty!!
Great find amongst other anonymous eateries along the Whitley bay seafront. Decor is fun, quirky, and the wall comments caught my eye as well as the inventive range of cakes. My hummingbird cake was truly scrumptious, moist raspberry walnut sponge with hints of pineapple topped with lemon cheesecake cream decorated with banana, raspberries and extra toasted walnuts. Yum, is it making your mouth water. My son's dark millionaire caramel chocolate shortbread slice was equally delicious. We also looked on in awe as the other guy at our table wolfed down a gargantuan beef burger n chips garnished with fresh coleslaw and salad. My family know l like to write reviews so l was told l couldn't possibly give it less than 5 stars. I would have anyway. Being endorsed by a whole family means no one can be disappointed by choosing this place to eat. Definitely worth a visit. Wish wish l could get hummingbird cake in London and the decaff Cappuccino was great too.
If you're in Whitley Bay you MUST visit. Fantastic, friendly, professional staff. Perfect posh poached eggs. Truly wonderful.
Great selection of food. Very friendly staff, food amazing and dog friendly.
