I always liked the place. Yesterday we had heavy rain and the place created some unexpected waterfalls. It was a nice view but I felt sorry for the damage it caused.
Staff in the cafe were outstanding. I wrote to head office to let them know, but no acknowledgement yet over a week later. But we would like to let them know we really appreciated them. Nothing was too much trouble and we did move 3 times, so not an 'easy' customer!
Very disappointed yet again! We have been here a quite few times, sometimes getting what we wanted sometimes not. On every visit we have tried to have a meal or snack in the cafe, always had a problem either with bad service, lack of choice of food or just bad cooking We went today wanting a couple of house plants, nothing really suited our needs so gave up on that idea. Despite our previous experiences we thought we would try the cafe again, surely things have improved. They were obviously short staffed, eventually got the waitress to take our order, she told us they weren't expecting to be so busy. All areas of the cafe were full, tables not cleared, we noticed several people come in and walk out again as nowhere to sit. As far as we could see there was the one waitress taking orders, one trainee on drink making, till, serving drinks and cakes, one girl on taking out hot food. When our food arrived, toasted sandwiches one with chips, I was charged 1.50 for the 6 chips on the plate! We had to stand and wait for nearly 10 minutes in order to pay our bill, I wonder how many people don't bother to pay and just walk out
Visited for the first time last week, the food in the cafe is really nice and the kids ate free with the adult meals. There's lots of plants at good prices and there is a little aquatic centre and a morissons attached.
We had half an hour whilst my father in law was on a medical appointment so popped in here to get some last minute presents. We were perhaps a week or two late as some of the stock was down to its last box and some bits like lights were demonstration set only... So all the more reason to get in early. There was a good range of candles but some of the bird boxes were weakly made with gaps and signs of fluffy mould which made them unsuitable as presents. That said, it was lovely to find a little Sainsbury's on the way out which supplied us with jam, mince pies and cheese scones. Ample parking and plenty of trollies of different sizes to suit all needs. Next visit it'll have to be the coffee shop which looked nice, but we lacked the time to indulge.
We popped in for a bit of lunch, it has been very busy, and there were not enough staff. When the food arrived, pepper and spring onion. The pastry was hard and there was not enough filling, which was also quite tasteless.
Just been into Dobbies-- Cadnam. Long wait to get a table. But when I did get a table--the 4 or 5 lots of people behind me were given tables and served first. What was the point of queueing? When eventually they had taken these other people's orders--my order was taken!! Waited ages again, knowing that the other tables had to get their orders first. I don't mind waiting usually--however I walked out--goodness knows what time my lunch would have come!!??? Kathy Mead
Lots of parking, good selection of plants and gardening associated nick nacks. Good cafe. Some things can be overpriced such as mealworms £28 per kilo!
Service in the cafe is excruciatingly slow! We sat for ages in the outer seating and we're told twice that the staff were well aware we were there. Finally a waitress appeared just as we were about to leave. Not recommended.
Only 1 out of 3 gluten free options available!!! Cheese scones are the worst I have ever tried, bland, dry and no cheese taste at all ,everything over priced even the ridiculously small hot drinks
