Always use Cables and always great service, great drivers and never had an issue
Yesterday I booked a taxi with Cables taxi from Bishop Auckland. They refused to take my booking without a £20 deposit which I had to make a special trip to pay in person as they could not take this over the phone. Over half an hour after I was supposed to be picked up I called the taxi firm who said the office was closed and I would have to call back in the morning. This was no help to me and my stranded friends. When I tried to call back they had changed the phone to take no incoming calls. I am completely dismayed that after paying a deposit this taxi firm left me and a group of friends with no way home. We had to rely on other people to get home. Do not use this company!!
I don't know how they have the gall to call themselves a taxi service, I booked a taxi for 11.30pm from Tudhoe Cricket Club back to Bishops Auckland, both postcodes were given at the time of booking. By 11.45pm no taxi had shown up so I rang them only to be told they were running 20 minutes late due to other people leaving their events later than arranged, however they couldn't guarantee that they would be with us in 20 minutes either. Then a few minutes later they rang me back to ask for the postcode, now I'm not familiar with the area as I live in Cornwall, I was outside, it was cold and sleeting and I didn't know how to use my phone and keep them on the line at the same time, I had no pen or paper with me as I had been to a party and don't carry that sort of thing, so I said I didn't know what it was it was, I gave the address details that I had and they said they would see if the could find it. Now seeing as I initially found the postcode on the internet, I don't know why they couldn't do that also. Anyway it was becoming apparent that they were not going to arrive, and so the last taxi that left the club after midnight offered to go out of their way to take us back to Bishop Auckland I believe the driver was due to finish his shift Cables taxi company knew I wasn't local as the taxi had been booked via the Premier Inn, they never bothered to check if I had made my way back to my destination or anything. I notice that they don't have great reviews from other people and I can now see why. Avoid
Can't order a taxi in the morning because of school contracts
After using these taxis several times over the past few days I find that the drivers like to take the longer routes. I visit the area on a monthly basis but usually as a driver so know the short cuts. Also usually had to wait quite a long time for taxi to arrive.
Quoted a price on the telephone twice then taxi driver says it's on the meter double the price!! very unprofessional and late pick up will not use again should've stuck with usual company
Excellent friendly service, had a taxi available within 15 mins of calling, highly recommend this company.
Arrived early and a very amiable and friendly driver. Reasonably priced. I would definitely use again.
