This was a great station for both arrival and departure, holding two platforms for its branch line! Departure boards are up to date and entrances are very accessible, bridge is efficient yet not as close to them as it could be for convienence.
There are certainly no complaints here about Shildon Station. It's a very tidy stop, groomed with benches, flowers & well served by absent staff. The only issue here is it seems to be afflicted with damage from local youths who drink, scream and shout here. It's covered in cctv however, so it's about as good as it gets. Eerily peaceful there too while you're waiting for your train.
Local station. Well-signed and extensive monitoring. Close to the railway museum an unmarked path runs along the tracks.
For a relatively quiet line this is quite an impressive station, fairly recently modernised no doubt due to the presence of the offshoot of the National Railway Museum nearby. Good ramp access to both platforms and large waiting shelters but no other facilities. Nevertheless, an attractive setting in summer with trees on both sides. Unstaffed.
