Danny Lidgate is the fifth generation of his family to run this150 year old business. He personally selects organic and grass-fed beef, lamb and pork from selected free range and organic farms and estates.

Story

Lidgate’s family butcher’s has five generations of knowledge behind the counter of its famous shop in Holland Park, west London. Chefs, dedicated carnivores and the locals of this foodie neighbourhood come here for anything from a lunchtime sausage roll to a magnificent rib of grass-fed beef for a dinner party. Meat is a treat and they all come here for the best.

We are now serving the local community in Surrey! Visit our butchers at Crockford Bridge Farm, where you'll find a great range of organic produce home-grown on the farm. Your one-stop-shop for all things food!

I had heard that Lidgates made delicious pies so was excited to try their Steak and Ale pie last night. It was AWFUL and so disappointing. The pastry was dry and bland, the steak was so tough it was difficult to chew, there was no flavour. NEVER AGAIN. Honestly, the one from Waitrose is much better and third of the price!
This is just the best! You pay a little more but worth the quality and experience. I great selection of Meats, ready preparedto cook at home pies and marinates etc Cheese selection is vast and well picked. Big quality sausage selection also. I highly recommend
C. Lidgate is one of those old-fashioned amazing village butchers near Holland Park. Wonderful high quality meat, sausages, cheese, desserts, ready made, cottage pies, ready made kebabs Wow. The staff are so lovely and human. Special deal on Thursdays.
I bought 2 flat iron steaks of 250g each, I thought they were a bit small and when I weighed them, the both of them together just added up to 400g. It's not a cheap item and most people me included don't weigh everything to make sure the company is not lying. I bought it through getir, and after complaining with them they said that I'd have to the company. I emailed C. Lidgate a week ago and was completely ignored. My tare button is broken, that's why there's a photo of the weight of just the bowl. Anyway, don't buy. You'll not get what you pay for and the customer service is inexistent.
I’ve been buying from this butcher from Amazon for a while from time to time and I’ve been always suspicious on their portions. This time I got a ribeye and a fillet whose weight is 25% less of what it claims judged with packaging on. The ribeye is not a proper cut.
3rd time they've sold me on date/past date meat. Never again. In store its good but delivery... They palm off old stock. For the price and reputation I'd expect better.
A very convenient little shop with all the Italian delicacies you can imagine. Service is fast and always make sure to trust the recommendations. I particularly like the salad selection and the cuts of meat. They use paper bags too!
The produce at Lidgate is good. The pies excellent as are the sausages. What I don’t like are some of the servers. A couple of the guys are just miserable. Less so the women who give a warm welcome. More importantly they don’t appear to be real butchers and the butchers are at the back of the shop. Unlike HG Walter and Ginger Pig who have butchers on the counter so you can chat about the various cuts and cooking. The guy I got today I wouldn’t want to engage with!
Even though I truly believe that this place has great quality meat , as I ‘ve read also other reviews before I went there , i was a bit disappointed: I asked for a beef casserole for stew and the person behind counter suggested casserole steak diced . I was cooking it for ages and it never became soft. No exaggeration from 2.30pm to 7pm . I would like to call my self an experience cook and i have made this dish a 100 times. Not sure what went wrong. I have to say though the service and cleanliness of the shop was on top!
This butcher has the appearance of selling premium meats and my experience was extremely disappointing. I tried the wagyu burgers and the quality was worse than a private label burger from any major grocer, but the price was 6-7x. The burger was dry and had hard bits, it wasn’t the juicy burger I was expecting. Not going back.
