We were here for a meal as guests for a special wedding anniversary celebration, we don't live in the area but would love the opportunity to revisit. The staff were lovely, they all worked hard to look after everyone, the room we used was superb, and the food was outstanding. The home made steak pie - oh my goodness, I'd travel the 2 hours from my home just for this! The home made lasagne was equally excellent according to others on our table. The pavlova was absolutely delicious and provided in copious quantities. Honestly superb quality food and service and surroundings. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.
Excellent pub and and food with outdoor seating that gets the sun when it's vanisheď everywhere else. Good ales and lagers and a very strong local feel. We have never stopped there but our friends rated it highly. Walkability: It is all up hill or down hill to get anywhere but it is in lovely countryside.
We were here for a family wedding and booked in for two nights. We arrived late afternoon and were shown to our room called Botany via a back staircase which was in urgent need of a vacuum cleaner. Halfway up there was an emergency door leading to the back yard of the pub which was wide open letting cold air in. At the top of the staircase was an office door which was wide open revealing what can only be described as chaos. On entering the room things were much cleaner and the room was quite acceptable although a little dark with all the old furnishings. The bathroom was well fitted and very bright with a bath and walk-in shower. We were then told that the only exit at night after closing time was via the back door as the pub was locked and unmanned which we found rather disconcerting as did other guests in the next room. We had arranged a meal in the pub with family that evening and everything was perfect, food, service and restaurant were very good, so that gave us a good feeling for the breakfast offering. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Breakfast is extremely poor, held in a tiny room upstairs where there are three very small tables and a kitchen set-up. You serve yourself with everything except a pre-ordered hot breakfast at your designated time, which was a big disappointment with sausages that tasted off and bacon that was overcooked and hard. All toast and teas/coffees were self-serve. Certainly not the experience that was expected given the room rate of £120 per night! Surely it would be much better served in the restaurant?? We were vastly disappointed and declined breakfast the next morning leaving early. It must be said staff were all very polite and helpful, perhaps management need to take a closer look at their offering. The website says nothing about the strange breakfast arrangements or the fact that the establishment is unmanned at night. We will not be returning.
Went there with our son for lunch, we got there at 12 noon and it was deserted it did fill up later on. We got drinks in an looked at the menu plenty.to chose from with lots of dishes with gluten free options I had a sweet and sour veg sizzler with rice a good sized plateful. My son had a meat dish with chips this was a big portion also, my.wife had a fish dish that went down well, I couldn't manage a sweet but they both had sticky toffee pudding with custard all good. 10 out of 10 to the lady who served us she worked very hard, also the gents loo was very clean which is a bonus for me. The whole bill was.around 70 pounds maybe not the cheapest but really looking forward to going back
Went for another meal here. Again very good and decent sized portions. Service was pleasant and quite fast considering the amount of people in there. Only mishap was we were charged for three drinks which we didn't have but it was quickly sorted out. Will definitely return at some point soon.
Beautiful food and good service. I came on a Saturday night and the atmosphere was a bit intense as they had a private party v noisy and a bit overwhelming. Through the week and in the summer it’s a great place to be!Service: 5/5
Room was absolutely lovely. It was quite funny, we arrived on a busy Thursday night, quiz night and bustling bar. The food did smell lovely I have to say. We were shown to a back staircase, pub carpet!!! Then we went through a door to the accommodation. What a transformation. We can highly recommend this pub accommodation. Spacious room, fabulous bathroom, walk in shower. Great tea and coffee facilities. Kooky breakfast set up. Great place
We ordered the burgers as a lunchtime snack. They're 8oz and come with a salad, coleslaw, very large onion rings and fries. They're excellent but very filling!Service: 4/5
A lovely country pub. Very warm welcome and the room was absolutely fabulous. The evening meal in the restaurant was very good. Would stay again and recommend it.Rooms: 5/5
Google seems to only recognise the Busfeild Arms as an accommodation place; actually it's mostly a pub that serves great meals with apparently a couple of rooms somewhere upstairs. Good on Gluten-Free, but surprisingly weak for vegetarians. A 3 generation party of various needs, we all loved what we got!
