Brunswick House

About

Seasonal British dishes on daily menu, served amid mismatched recycled furniture with a design edge.

Story

A cocktail bar, cafe & restaurant, set in the crumbling grandeur of a Georgian town house, built for a Duke in 1758, which somehow seemed to get forgotten by time.

By day, we serve the finest Coleman Roast coffee, Breakfast until 12:00 am and Lunch from 12:00. In the evenings, we serve an inventive and original dinner menu (from 18:00), to accompany expertly-crafted cocktails, and carefully selected wines. Please check our website for further informations and menu.

Food are acceptable in this place, the Dexter beef something like a beef tartare is not bad, the best dish we had was probably the potato cake with liver and kumquat on top which sounds “adventurous” but actually the whole combination was quite excellent. The cod fish was a bit too salty for our taste. The potato bread with garlic butter, for us the garlic butter was not garlic enough, the bread crust was not crunchy enough, but it is kind of fluffy in the middle. Service wise staffs are polite, quite helpful when it comes to recommendations of you are not sure what you want……atmosphere is pretty good, the place is not too loud that you can’t hear your friends……… Parking: There is a small parking lot at the back of the restaurant.
Not impressed with the food quality. My toasts were half-burned. And my “smoked noodle” was really bland, with just shaved cheese and noodle, no herbs or garnish whatsoever. This is more a cafe kind of food than “fine dining” restaurant. The ambience is ok, some would say quaint, with most of the chandeliers for sale antique shop upstairs.
Yesterday I finally visited Brunswick House. I was looking to try it for a while. First of all, the place itself is just breathtakingly beautiful. All of the plants and antique pieces make the environment truly special. I think it is important to mention how classy the building is and how futuristic are surroundings of it. Secondly, the service was outstanding. Great timing between starters and main dishes. Wine selection: outstanding. Tbh, it took me a bit to read the menu as it was very rich and everyone who enjoys wine will find something special. And food: good quality ingredient, very interesting pairing such as clams and chicken, but still modern British cuisine. I loved everything I tried. Overall, it was a lovely family experience and I will definitely come back!
I thought I had already reviewed this restaurant. It’s amazing and is located not far from our flat. We bring out of town guests here often and always enjoy our meals and experiences. They have an extensive wine/ beer/cocktail list and inventive menus. Every dish we ordered here we end up liking very much.Food: 5/5
Very unassuming gem that you’d unfortunately probably walk past. Those who know about it are lucky - eclectic but beautiful interior, stunning cozy outside space for London standards and the food was a massive surprise. Not a single bad dish. Potato bread and herb butter was to die for, as was the burger. Pasta and straciatelle equally delicious. Super keen to come back, especially as this is a very decently priced restaurant. Vegetarian options: Lots to choose from!
Great experience - food is very well executed with some creative elements. Thought the menu was good value as well which is unusual in London. Really good service from Max too. Will definitely be back.Food: 5/5
Quirky restaurant in amongst the tall buildings and major roads of Nine Elms and Battersea. Fairly narrow choice of menu but some wonderful original dishes. The wine list is seriously extensive and dare I say 'too' extensive. It runs to pages and pages.. So it's great if you like choice. As first time visitors our only wish was that our waitress would have been better informed on describing the size and the ingredients of the dishes for us as we had no clue if we should order 1 starter and 1 main or a selection of dishes - tapas style or whatever. We opted for multiple and that worked for 2 of us with small appetites. There was one original vegetable dish we had, which seemed to have a smokey vegetable but we couldn't identify what it was and the waitress had no clue either.. Which was a pity. Other than the issue of a lack of knowledge about the dishes she was serving - the staff were friendly and fun and we would definitely recommend a visit.
This is an awesome find. It is kind of outside of the tourist area. When you get it the outdoor seating area is like someone's balcony in Italy. Then you go inside and you are greeted with thousands of chandeliers. There are many paintings and art work for sale too. The raw dexter beef smoke bone marrow is the highlight. It's a very nice, tasty, refreshing beef tartar. Then the Bull's heart tomato with sun sweet melon salad was another highlight for me. So sweet and refreshing. Contrasting with the other dishes. The cucumber salad was good too. I don't usually eat salad. Most of the dishes we ordered were good too. But it was a bit on the saltier side for me. But, it was perfect for my friend. So if you are sensitive to saltie food, then you might want to request it easier on the salt. I will definitely go back to this place. If you are near the area, give it a shot.
Got invite to a dinner at Brunswick House. Up until the dinner I've never heard of this place and that it was walking distance from Vauxhall train station. Food was good, like I had the fish for main. The fish was good and the texture was normal, however there was a bit of much of flavour that I think didn't go well togeather. As it was so hot that day, and the resturant was not heaving with people, however , I can't believe there was no fan in the whole restaurant . It was so hot! What saved the evening was their coconut sorbet which was cold and delicious. Location is perfect. The staff were great and amazing on keep tab of which one had which allergy. The venue has limited outdoor area and the inside it's big with mix/match of everything . The decor definitely gave the place a character. Vegetarian options: There was a lot of dishes that could be converted to a vegetarian. Which they did to my friend. So you just need to make sure to tell the restaurant before hand. Dietary restrictions: there was 8 of us and 3 people had some sort of allergy and 1 was vegetarian. They all made sure that the menu was tailored to the type of allergy. They were brilliant Parking: There are parking walking distance from the restaurant however I don't believe they have their own parking. Kid-friendliness: Yes and dog friendly. Wheelchair accessibility: It would be ok if seated outdoor . However to get itside there is a step to get in but I think the most difficult part would be going to the toilets. Currently you would need to walk up a a stair to get to the toilet.
Yesterday we finally visit the restaurant and we had a great experience! The food was delicious and the service great! The atmosphere is very unique. We will come back for sure! I didn’t take many pictures because I couldn’t resist trying the dishes as soon as they arrived. Vegetarian options: Not many vegetarian options but the ones available are great. Unfortunately they don’t label veg dishes this can be a great improvement!
