An innovative mixed use development designed by Patrick Hodgkinson 1930-2016 and completed in 1972. The benign brutalist design works surprisingly well with a sunny interior courtyard where you can sit and have your coffee. Lots of cute little stores with Ben's Cookies being a definite highlight.
Definitely a hidden gem in a forgotten part of London. It's still fairly busy, so not so forgotten! I do love it here. The peoole have carved out a community for themselves with lots of small independent shops; reminds me of what london5 was like when I was a kiddie. No large retail shops, all small independents.
The Brunswick Centre, situated in Bloomsbury, London WC1, is a Grade II listed residential and shopping complex that connects Brunswick Square and Russell Square. Designed by Patrick Hodgkinson, this brutalist landmark integrates residential apartments with a vibrant commercial area. It features the largest Waitrose in Central London and a state-of-the-art Curzon art-house cinema. The Brunswick Centre boasts a diverse array of eateries and shops, making it a focal point in a literary and student-rich neighbourhood. Whether you're passionate about architecture, cinema, art, food, or books, The Brunswick Centre has something for everyone. My favourite things to do there include dining at The Riding House Cafe and Hare and Tortoise. Food shopping at Waitroise and Tiam Tiam the Asian food store. Browsing the art gallery and Skoob Books.
The Brunswick Shopping Centre is a vibrant and well-designed retail space that offers a great mix of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. It has a relaxed atmosphere, making it a pleasant place to spend an afternoon. The variety of stores caters to different tastes, from popular fashion retailers to unique boutique shops. You can easily find everything you need, whether it’s clothing, home goods, or specialty items. The food court features a range of dining options, making it easy to grab a quick bite or sit down for a meal. The centre also hosts regular events and activities, which adds to the lively atmosphere and keeps things interesting for visitors. Additionally, its convenient location makes it easy to access and explore. Overall, The Brunswick Shopping Centre is a fantastic spot for shopping, dining, and entertainment, providing a fun experience for individuals, couples, and families alike.
The Brunswick Centre is a striking example of modernist and brutalist architecture in London. Located in Bloomsbury near Russell Square tube station, it features a tiered structure and expansive glass facades. The complex includes around 600 flats, a cinema, a Waitrose supermarket, and various shops and restaurants.
Very trendy place foods drinks out, let's. Full of young people Im guessing they are students of local universities , Mainly from far east countries like Japane -China- Singapore etc a very polite security team that just looks after the visitors and business owners safety excellent management of the Shopping centre plus you can always glance at to Iconic Residential building of it Brunswick where in the past and present some celebrities were living some still live though thats what I was told besides just stone throw away from Russle Square Underground! So easily accessible by bus.s and tubes. British museum and kingcross train station are walkable by. Ps.Negative point sadly, there is no nonsmoking rules..
I came here after years and years and noticed a big change. For thr better.. Lovely eatereis around and just new shops available. To browse and shop
There are some useful shops but no useful amenities for shoppers. A place this size with this many shops should have toilets. I'm sure it used to. There is a large and very busy waitrose but the waitrose too has decided not to provide toilets.
Brutal Architecture Love it Both day And night Lots of shops Some nice ones Mostly generic Alas But cool Curzon cinema And a park Across Walk around Look up So pretty
Not bad for a quick if not moderately costly experience as the main supermarket is Waitrose, there are the usual boots, superdrug stores as well as a mini amusement arcade and a okay selection of eateries.
