Not sure who is posting the bad reviews. But I found the reception team friendly and helpful. Dr Harrop is empathetic and understanding, very professional and efficient with management of illness.
Worst GP experience I've had and I've lived in 4 different countries. This practice is a statement to how terrible the NHS really is.
I feel that if people are coming here, they need help. They already have too much on their plate to deal with; I know I have. I thought the people who greeted me at the reception were very cold... I felt that I was treated like a problem to be dealt with. It's their job, I don't want to be considered a bother, you are being paid for this, as a service to the university: which I have paid to attend. If you're going to work in this industry I just feel you could be a bit more friendly and polite. I know life can be hard at times, life has been very hard to me lately, but that isn't an excuse to act in such a way.
Completely incompetent service. I ordered my repeat prescription for anti seizure medication which I am supposed to get after 2 days, sometimes I’ve had to wait longer but this time was shocking! I’ve had to wait a whole week and had no word whatsoever. I went to the pharmacy twice in the space of the week to see if they had been delivered but they received nothing. I then rang up to make an enquiry about the delay and the GP was adamant that they had been delivered. I’ve had to call 111 to get an emergency prescription as it is vital I receive my medication otherwise one missed dose can cause me to have a seizure. That emergency pack would only last me three days which I hoped I would have my meds delivered before I finished but I still had nothing. No longer trust this service to get me my order on time.
The receptionist was very inpatient and cold towards me whilst I was trying to explain politely what I needed to
I was supposed to have a phone call appointment today and the doctor never called me. I’ve been trying to get help with my problem for a month now and every call I’ve made has been ignored. This is just for a minor thing, but when it comes to things like my mental health - which is severe, I don’t even bother with this GP. I’ve made e consult forms about my depression that have gone unacknowledged, so I’ve had to phone 111 who recognise how severe my issue is and direct me to crisis lines. It isn’t good at all when so many students struggle with their mental health but can’t even get contacted about their appointment because their GP doesn’t care. How does that help my depression? My sense of worthlessness? It all sounds so angsty to even write this out but compared to my last doctor, this is a joke. The e consultations I’d make with her would be responded to within a few hours and she was a solo practitioner.
I phoned the GP about my issue and was told I could be referred to the royal hospital for an ECG however when I went to the hospital they did not have me on their system. I phoned the GP and after about 30 mins I was told by the receptionist that I would be put on the system and that it would be “instant”, I’m then phoned by a doctor and asked questions regarding my ECG and told it’s fine and she will do the referral. After 1 hour of waiting I was still not on the system and because of exams I wasn’t able to go again that week and I don’t have the money to keep travelling. I was also told I could have a blood test but my appointment for that was cancelled and they gave me another one at a different surgery, further away, which I have never been to and they are aware I suffer from bad anxiety. I was also supposed to have a routine check up appointment over the phone and they never called.
Extremely condescending and rude receptionist; kept making snarky little remarks about my situation over the phone when I was trying to book an appointment and had no understanding of mental health or why I might be in the situation I was in, despite me explaining this to her twice. Couldn't book me in for 2 weeks which is probably not her fault but she was very snippy and rude about it. I have never had service this bad with any other GP, and it's a shame because I now have to go further afield to seek medical attention that I need as soon as I can get it.
Tried to arrange an appointment when I had a kidney infection and was seriously ill on multiple occasions and was told every time that there were no more appointments or that phone lines were closing soon so I could not speak to anyone despite it being early in the day on all occasions. I was not offered any medical advice or told to ring 111 instead/ go to a walk in clinic or A&E. I ended up in hospital for 5 days with sepsis and a kidney infection. This was all preventable however my concerns were completely ignored by Brownlow. Shocking.
I understand GPs are busy however I called first thing Friday morning 8am and was told a doctor would call me back to triage me and I was not called. After 4 it's for emergency calls only; although mine isn't an emergency I have been living quite uncomfortably the last 8 days and now it's the weekend, this practise is closed and I have no clue what to do. Don't say I will get a call if I am not because I waited all day when I could have gone to a walk in
