Given a room that was not suitable or what was booked. They did move us to a room slightly better but no heating as valves were broken, gave us two mini electric heaters. Four poster bed no mattress protector or pillow protectors and mattress springs very sore/sharp. £35.00 pp for New Years Eve gala dinner not to expectations. Restaurant food warm both breakfast and dinner. Hotel needs attention.
Location excellent . Friendly atmosphere .fantastic value. Helpful smiling staff... Yes can be noisy at night with other activities but it's a pleasant old hotel full of tradition really enjoyed our stay..Rooms: 4/5
We are here for a weekend of tributes and the rooms are well presented and clean and lift to all floors. Food was good and good choice, no complaints from me. There are alot of bad comments and the only one we would do is the noise from clubs and bars on the street to the left side of the hotel. If you are booking ask for quite room and they will accommodate. Would come back but with a room change away from the night life noise till 4.30am Rooms: Clean and iron/board hair dryer tea and coffee TV. All you need and we have a night heater if needed. Walkability: Central to town and shops, 10 min walk to beach
Was much better than expected. Nice and warm, food good, cleaner than expected . For the price it was good. Like others have said shame about the noise from music pubs in the area.. some very nice features in the hotel . Food & drinks: Good value
Excellent location. Right by the shops and centre. Easily accessible to the station aswell as buses. The room was good and complete with necessary equipment. Clean aswell as sterilised. The room was also huge and spacious which was both good and bad as they had one big bare wall. The overall experience at the hotel for our two nights as a couple was very good for the value. 4.5/5 Rooms: Very big, spacious and comfortable aswell as equipped with full necessary items. Tv was flat screen and the kettle worked fine. Bath and shower too. Nearby activities: Shops, cafe and bars, pubs and theme park. Safety: Coronavirus, plugs checked, electric checked and water checked. Food & drinks: Plenty of bars and pubs. Noteworthy details: Britannia, thanks again.
Great location. Clean well equipped room with comfortable bed. Good food with plenty of choice. Friendly staff. Hotel a little tired in places, but still a lovely old place. Would reccomend and definitely return..... Can't see why people would give a bad review, but I guess you can't please everyone!Rooms: 5/5
When arrived hotel freezing.Need thicker duvetsFood was fine,The noise from Night club went on to 5.30 in morning Shame would not come back should not be allowed to be that loudloud.Entertainment good bar 1 person serving. Staff in Irish bar should get hot water bottles or closed down Staff nice.Rooms: 3/5
What a shambles of a place! Room tired, dated, small and need a good refurb! Parking is two little areas, so have to pay to park. The noise from the night club directly under the hotel was on till 3am, then we had the joys of the drunks shouting till nearly 4 under our window of Room 104. Finally nodded off and the street cleaner woke us at 8am. We did ask to speak to a manager twice, but one was never available, asked to change rooms or a refund, neither could be done! The place needs closing down for a full refurbishment! Our room wasn't anything like the ones pictured on the website, massive stain on the ceiling, door handle falling off, windows hadnt been cleaned in years, couldnt open the window. Worst place I've ever stayed!! Please please don't bother with this place! Spoilt what should have been a nice weekend away!
My partner surprised me with a night away for my birthday. After seeing pictures that advertise the hotel I was really excited Booking online the price to pay on arrival.was 68quidd. On arrival at the hotel, I thought it looked a bit tatty and needed a clean and lick of paint. The guy on reception was very untalkative and just gave us our key and room number, robotically. And the price was 107 quidd not 68quidd as stated when booking online! Opening the door to our room and walking in, our faces and excitement dropped! Only way I can describe it, is a tiny, pokey box room! It was outdated with broken furniture and marks all over the walls and furniture. The corner in the bathroom was full of cob webs, there was tea/coffee stains on the skirting boards, the window backed onto a back ginnel with what I think are large generators. We didn't even want to sit on the bed nevermind sleep in it! I made a brew and got milk floaters as a bonus!! We went down to reception where I could.only describe the room as a dive! The guy didn't even question it, although I had took lots of pictures of the mess, he didn't ask or question just said he would move us. Seems like he was expecting it. This second room was a lot better and was bearable for our 1 night stay. Again was outdated, the windows were filthy and the toilet made a loud humming noise when flushed that went on for quiet a bit! Mmm there was also a fire exit door as u walked into the room.......which was blocked off or nailed shut and turned out the door led to next door, as we could hear them talking clear as day, as if they was in the same room. Breakfast in the morning was again bareable for a 1 night stay only. Would I come again? .........NOT A CHANCE! Overall I found it dirty, outdated and staff need some help on dealing with customers.
I was pleasantly surprised with the refurb at this hotel , much much better than before and the food was very good indeed. My one huge complaint is we went to a tribute weekend which was absolute chaos !! People being allowed to save seats for their visiting friends meant those who paid to see the show couldnt and had to adjourn downstairs to the bar with a view of yhe high street..they had one person behind the bar which resulted in long queues , people were getting frustrated and a few scuffles broke out. I suggest that the doors are manned and the saving of seats be stopped as its not fair to the people who have later meal times as the early ones fill the seats up with coats, bags, etc ...
