A discovery! Cash only though...still, great fish & chips!

Broadstairs Fish Bar, at The Broadway in Broadstairs, was a case of volume over taste when I tried it. The large amount of food can't on first sight be faulted, but I might have preferred less of a plateful if the fish, although reasonably fresh, wasn't buried in a mass of thick batter making it look larger than it was - a frequent trick with chip shops. The chips were lacking in taste and were rather chewy, a sure sign of not being refried, oil not hot enough, or the chipped potatoes not left to dry off long enough before frying. Refrying chips for a light texture, and a thinner batter to allow the taste of fish to dominate, would improve this chippy's offer. However, my friend rated this one more favourably. Watch out for prowling gulls if you sit near the door - one flew into this chippy and bullied food off a plate. Take a walk down into town to be sure of better fish 'n' chips.

Staff were great, food was ok, I had the rok and wasn't all that impressed with it unfortunately.

The staff are always bubbly and smiling and they're so friendly especially with young kids. The chips are outstanding and so are the sausages. I can't personally comment on the fish as I don't like fish but I've been told that's delicious too.

Fantastic fish, best ever, great chips all cooked to order, very large portions. Friendly staff, want more can be said.
