A solid 5/5 for us. Could not fault a thing. Tried both Spanish wines and the French rose at a £5 for small glass…you don’t need to spend more. Absolutely fab. Sign of a good restaurant is spot on house wine. Lovely service from all and my steak was melt in my mouth. We will be back. Thank you all !
Hard to give this place more than 3/5 as it was a real mixed bag.nnPositives:nFirstly and most importantly the food was delicious. To start I had the crab and my wife had the tomato dish. For main we both had the lamb. Both were delicious and would recommend them.nThe service was very friendly and welcoming.nnNegative:nThe portion sizes were tiny and the smallest I’ve ever had. My crab was minuscule and main courses were smaller than most other places starter sizes. Think fancy London restaurant sizes and then even smaller. What was even more annoying was that the next table to us, who also had the lamb and food arrived after ours, were twice the size. It’s a shame because what we did have was delicious. This place is not cheap, which is fine because the food is really tasty and in terms of quality alone is worth the money. BUT the crazy small portions make it overpriced. Including service both our lamb dishes were almost £60 and we certainly felt we didn’t get £60 worth of food.nThe service was far too quick. Extremely friendly and informative but way too quick. A funny thing to complain about I admit but we felt like we were almost being rushed out. We came to enjoy a nice leisurely evening at Brassica but had to end up going to the local pub to stretch it out. Starters were on the table a minute after ordering and they had barely cleared our plates before we saw our mains. Whole meal took about 30 minutes and after saying we didn’t want pudding, we had to tell the friendly waiter that we just wanted to relax before we ordered the bill.nnA real shame because as I say the food was delicious. Our bill was £98 2 starters and mains, one glass of wine and service and the quality of food was worth it but in regards to the amount of food I’d say it was far from this amount. Makes me think that had both of us had alcohol / we ordered a bottle of wine we wouldn’t have been rushed through so quickly.nnAs I say - a real mixed bag.
Good food but tiny portions. Service was far too quick, we had finished starters & mains within 35 minutes. As I say, delicious, but the mains were the size of a starter.
This was my first visit to Brassica Restaurant and after all the recommendations that I had heard I did expect something special. The service was attentive and cannot be faulted. We had dietary restrictions in our party, a Coeliac and a Vegan. The menu choice was interesting but limited.nnThe reality when the food was brought was a disappointment, whilst it was nicely presented it did little to justify the high prices that are charged for the main dishes. Describing a dish as 'Organic Pork Shoulder' is misleading... This would be better described as 'Thin slices of Organic Shoulder served cold with with tonnato and cornichions.'nnWhilst the Steak Eaters were well served with a very nice Organic Angus Steak and The Vegan was served with a Violet Aubergine Caponata, though good, the general feeling was 'Underwhelmed'.nnThe Vegetable sides at £10 per shot were quite literally a small side plate with a pauper's portion, not sufficient to 'share' at the table.nnIf you have deep pockets and are prepared to accept pretty standard but adequate fare then this may be the place for you.nnPerhaps a rethink on side vegetables and menu is in order.
Great food. Good wine and overal a lovely atmosphere which is supplemented by charming service.
