Awesome venue - nice big space for multi level platforms
Decent but not great. Has potential but still needs work. Toilets are nothing to brag about and generally the prices are on the high side. Great lighting and good sound. They have pulled in some interesting gig's. Needs a but more maturity. Atmosphere still varies a lot depending on the act. Would recommend, but only provisionally.
Autumn bbq and meat carnival
I used to like this place until I went last week to a supposed "90's rave". Well I was raving in the 90's and I only recognised a couple of tunes and I'm sure they were much more recent. Was barely even house music, never mind trance or techno. I have noticed that they do tend to misadvertise the musical genre to get more ravers in but I have previously enjoyed events anyway, in spite of having to hold my bladder for the whole night due to the appalling state of the loos no locks, sinks from the 1800's pity the boys with the freezing portaloos. They let far too many people in and were serving people who were literally falling down drunk. I have never been jostled so much in my entire life and there is only room to dance if you don't mind holding your breath! But, worst of all, THEY HAD A SNIFFER DOG ON THE DOOR!!! Don't they know that this scene that they are making so much money from wouldn't even exist were it not for substances other than alcohol? At the end of the night it all started to make sense. Some nasty old bloke was standing at the door shouting "say no to drugs." I can only assume that he has a financial stake here and all he cares about is filling his bar till. Say no to people so drunk that they just shove you out of the way or elbow you in the face is what I say. And don't forget your smelly proof bags! Oh yeah, keep an eye on your stuff. I've only once actually left with my jacket. They always seem to disappear in the last half hour or so, which makes me wonder, is it the staff? I don't think I'll ever be back.
I went to see sub focus. Guys toilets were outside in a porter cabin which was honestly falling apart, it was embarrassing. The venue itself was mediocre at best, very ropey. Only real redeeming factor was the bouncers dealt with a collapsed girl very well and professionally.
Disgusting venue!! the ceilings drips condensation on you, theres a leaky pipe prob from an upstairs loo which was dripping on us too!! TheLadies toilets have no main door so you can see straight in when people are at the bar, the cubicles have no locks on the lady was charging for sheets of loo roll and the sinks looked like theyd never been clean it was a health hazard waiting to happen touching anything in there!! i heard the mens were portaloos outside aswell? £5 for a can of red stripe!! its a health and safety night mare with cracks and a big hole as you step out to the smoking area. eviromental health need to get in there n shut it down disgusting place great if your a student and completly out your face as you wouldnt notice these things which i dont think they did as most wee gurning and falling over the place!!
The venue itself is decent, despite being a bit plain. That is the biggest praise I can give boxxed. It was the most oversold event Iv ever been to. You could barely move. Furthermore there was only 2 toilets available for hundreds of people. And worst of all the security their are clearly on some kind of power trip as they would attack and kick people out including myself with little/no valid reason. Ticket/drinks are also overpriced. I would not go to boxxed under any circumstances.
Bouncers are trash. Some asian/indian door man with black spikey hair slapped me in the face after i jumped over the fence because i got kicked out for apparently nutting a paramedic then when i called the manager the next day he knew nothing about it.. Wouldnt recommended going on your own go as a group as i think they like to mess with vulnerable people..
This establishment failed to honour it's contractual agreement of an event due to the demographic. He unjustly discriminated against the organisers and the attendees due to his ignorant, bigoted and harmful views. Places like these should not exist, I think it's absolutely disgusting the way he has treated the organisers & attendees and the manner in which he continues to do so. He will be reported to the correct mediums and I truly hope that he will no longer be allowed to trade ever again. These views are not right. It's truly a shame that people continue to make money off the talents, energy and natural artistic flair of melanated beings yet disrespect them in this heinous way. Never again will this establishment or any other associated with this owner get my money.
