I have been in London for like two months and have had about 10 Chinese meals so far. I swear to god this one is the most authentic Chinese food I have ever had here in London, although the restaurant do not look nice in the evening, but the quality is very good and take little time for take away. A small tips for non-Chinese, steamed rice has almost no flavour at their nature, it is just the way it is, so get other main options if you like strong flavour;
I order a meal from Boxu for delivery, and because they were missing ingredients, they just decided not to include those items, and not put in a replacement. Ie, pork ribs and potatos, without the potatos. Very bad service.
I happened to get lost during my travels in London, and ended up in this adorable little community, complete with a picturesque little park, private residential buildings, and this unexpected, randomly placed Asian restaurant. The fare seems like simple and unassuming Chinese take-out food, at first, but believe me, everything pops with flavor. Everything is fresh and made to order, which means you might be waiting for a little while for your food to get made, but it is well worth it. The meat dishes look amazing, but the Mixed Veggie Fillet Bun was ridiculously good. I ordered it as a takeaway meal, but as I opened it up to take a picture for my Yelp readers, I couldn't resist taking a bite, and it was gone before I knew it. The juxtaposition of soft fluffy bun, crispy vegetables, and savory mushrooms, was the perfect combination of flavors and textures. Regular Chinese take-out just doesn't compare. This even felt healthy, Lord help me. The place is fairly small and won't seat too many people, but it's clean, comfortable, and there's a lovely park just across the street with plenty of shade and seating where you can go and enjoy your meal if need be. If you're short on time, definitely call ahead, though. Enjoy!
I have been here a couple of times and I am very surprised with the bad reviews. This place serves lovely food. I am quite picky myself, but always loved the food quality. Very tasty, freshly made food. The place is quite small though, definitely more about the takeaway, but there are a couple of tables to sit down.
Big disappointment. Just ordered from here and everything was low quality, not fresh and tasteless. The chicken bun was impossible to eat...the chicken, both the sweet&sour and the katsu were impossible to chew. The rice had no taste at all. The spring roles tasted like if they were frozen past their end of date time and they had so much oil. I don't usually leave feedback but I feel this lacks an enormous consideration for the client.
Tasteless! One of the most disappointing meals I've ever had. I threw away all £15 worth of food. I never leave reviews, but feel like I should let people know before they decide to use their hard earned money on this rubbish.
The food is delicious, one of the best chinese food in the neighborhood
A lovely surprise to have BOXU in the neighbourhood. The owner used to established the very first Sichuan restaurant in west London. Highly recommended for anyone who’s looking for reasonably priced, authentic Chinese foods
I just ordered from this place today. Im such a foody person and must say dine at very nice restaurants and bars, however this place is DISCUSTING. The website shows many nice dishes, however the actual food is like dishwash water. I will not ever order again. Feeling sick about talking about it. Yuk
The best Chinese takeaway I've been in London, quality and authentic food, well priced. HuangMen chicken and dumplings are my favourite!
