Nice, clean and updated functional station from when i moved to the area in 2024. I Was travelling from Boston to Skegness and after a long walk across town I was hoping to use the toilet facilities. Alas by 3.20pm they are closed. A sign just says open during normal hours. The times of which i could only locate on a very small blurred sign at the front of the station by leaving the platform. A clearer one however told me when the ticket office was closed for a staff break in the morning. Come on EMR........ toilets closed by darkness i get, but not before and lets get a better sign at the front maybe ??
For a small town in the rural midlands, being used by 210,000 annually it does what you expect. The Nottingham bound platform is covered from the elements and has a vending machine and ticket machine. There isn't a coffee shop or convenience shop located in the facility. Please note the station is only staffed by one person and when they are on break or finish you are out of lucknnIf you want a bottle of water its a 10min walk to the Asda or West Street, if you're very early and have time to kill the Eagle public house is 3 mins away and if for whatever reason you're hungry there is a Thai Restaurant in the station building bizarre i knownnUpdate the Thai Restaurant has closed and relocated
Visited the station today and have to say how helpful the lovely lady in the ticket office is. Nothing too much trouble and it is such a nice surprise when people go above and beyond to be helpful. The station is neat and tidy and for the town is a great asset.
Just a station with no facilities at all
Car parking maching with clear instructions on cost but difficult to read at night due to pure lighting
