We stopped at this pub for a quick drink during a walk. Friendly staff. Clean and tidy. We didn’t stop for food just a quick visit on a Saturday.
There's a lovely cosy atmosphere here, rich with history and a sense of community - nestled in the rural countryside. The service is friendly and personable, at a great price. We were really happy with the the food, especially given the range of British fare on offer. The starters and main stole the show, with good desserts though I'd have preferred the sticky toffee pudding with more toffee than the Butterscotch it's served with - and custard as an option though I'm sure they would have provided if requested. Overall would recommend! We say in the InnBetween part pub, part restaurant which is where I'd suggest!
Great service, delicious food. Garden setting is great. Duncan is always welcoming
We had a lovely meal there the roast dinner a choice off different size dinners 2 prices which is a really good idea if you have a small appetite or large The owner was very friendly would not hesitate to go back there again
Very authentic British meal in a building older than my country. Happily go back.
Great family pub, lovely environment and setting. Food was really good, with good helping. Staff are great, friendly and not intrusive, very helpful and no waiting at all. Will definitely be back, maybe for a Sunday lunch
I knew what I was going to write here, but reading the first review, it looks as though someone has got in before me. This pub is a beautifully traditional pub with exposed oak beams, fire place, clean toilets, a mix of low and vaulted ceiling and comes with a real sense of history, situated in the heart of Old Basing and Oliver Cromwell territory. The food, not having tried it, looks highly appetising. Unfortunately it's the "Welcome" that is severely lacking. A warmer welcome can possibly be found in Siberia. Having visited previously, I can tell you that if you are a child or indeed an animal then you have no chance of getting a drink as they are particularly unfriendly to these creatures. If you "ain't from round these parts" then you may be lucky to get a beverage but sadly it comes with a delay, a scorn, a tut and you'll have a desire to drink up as soon as possible.Once it had an open fire place that was visible from two areas of the pub but that's been blocked up now. Although to attract your attention now, there are numerous picture frames on the walls consisting of many photo collages, of no doubt, the regulars. It's a shame such a lovely looking pub has been taken over by this unwelcoming clique but I'm sure their balance sheet will decide their fate. The best bit about the pub, is leaving.
Went for an evening family meal, the food was amazing and staff even better. Such a pleasant environment and Duncan really made us feel welcome. Can't wait to go back.
Had a dinner here, not really good - salmon was not fresh.. Try to avoid, though barman is a very nice young guy. So many good family pubs in the area to have delicious dinner... Will not come again
I always love visiting this pub. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the service is excellent. Everything is clean and well spaced out and if you can get a seat in the garden it's a lovely tranquil place to eat and drink. The menu has a great selection of dishes to suit all tastes and, as a beer enthusiast, there's always a good choice of ales. Well worth a visit.
