Grim food, not chip shop quality chips, dry and tasteless. Shabby place. But the staff are so lovely. Unfortunately won't be going back though as we didn't enjoy our meals.Food: 1/5
Local legend did not disappoint got more than expected in all categories not used for a long time but on today,s experience will be visiting again soon, pensioner special brilliant value courteously served and who else provides coffee in a pot at this price point even the bread and butter is worthy of positive comment the taste of their mushy peas is unique and rekindled my taste bud memories first class.
Ordered cod and chips plus Haddock and Chips for my friend, pot coffee me and tea for him Fish was decidedly watery and batter fairly tasteless but the actual fish was quite nice big flakes. Really bad was receiving two very very dirty spoons with the drinks, which while mistakes happen, it was so obvious it shouldn't have Didn't get anywhere near enough milk and tomato sauce wasn't available as standard and when supplied wasn't really enough for two meals. Restaurant was pretty clean but dismal. Minimal decoration other than of photos relating to the business. Service was brusk without much cheer but just about attentive enough. For near £20 for the two meals I would expect a lot better. Best fish and chips in Hull? Hate to see the worst if that's that case
First time in here, useally go to the back of market one,but been closed since covid. We had lovely fish and chips with mushy peas,bread and butter with tea and coffee. Fish and chips were lovely, will be going back. Nice staff too coffee was lovely as I don't like ground coffee.

Absolutely brilliant the best chip shop in hull.. A museum of hull's culture with family photos on the walls and above all traditional fish and chips 5 star food.
Ordered Lemon Sole, chips are soft. Prefer a little crunch to them mushy peas are bland to point of tasting watery. The Sole taste nice was a little greasy but the batter was crispy. Staff are friendly and polite, very relaxed atmosphere, restaurant area could do with brighter lighting, but an all round nice place for a bite to eat.
Myself and husband always have a chat with the ladies who serve us. Food as lovely as always . Go to carvers at least once a week.Food: 5/5
