The Blue Anchor Inn was established in 1380, making it possibly one of the oldest pubs in Wales. The pub has always had to adapt to the changing times, long gone has the tankard clanging merriment of this once thriving trading port. These days our focus is on our range of real ales and our renowned bar/restaurant food.
OUR ALES
The Blue Anchor has always been a forerunner in the promotion of real ale in South Wales. We were the first winner of the CAMRA pub of the year award back in 1983 and we have maintained our position to the present day by being included in the current 2012 CAMRA Guide.
Our current house beers include:
Theakstons Old Peculier
Wadworths 6X
Wye Valley HPA
Brains Bitter
and a guest beer
OUR FOOD
We opened our locally renowned restaurant, which seats up to 80 diners, in the early 1990’s. Since then we have been able to provide our customers with extremely popular Sunday lunches (booking usually essential) as well as our extensive and varied menus on Mondays to Saturdays (lunchtimes and evenings). Our wine list features quality, affordable, wines from around the world.
The Blue Anchor offers the choice of eating in our Restaurant or, more informally, downstairs in the bar. Wherever you choose to eat, our menus all have at their heart locally grown or reared produce, prepared to the highest standards by our expert team of chefs. Our team are specialists in producing quality, locally sourced and innovative dishes with an international flavour, as well as more traditional Welsh favourites. They are constantly looking to develop new and exciting dishes for our loyal customers.
we also welcome dogs in the main bar area.
