A great family day out with lots of videos to watch and tonnes of reading. I would allow 6 hours so that you can absorb the place and get to feel the historic world changing events which took place here. We had 5 hours and had to rush some of the huts. Staff were very friendly with lots of information plus you can get free audio guides. The good news is that our tickets last for 1 year.
If you have watched and loved the films Enigma and The Imitation Game, you better get down to Bletchley Park to see the enigma machine, the huts, the offices, the rooms where they decipher the codes and many more.nnBletchley Park is a place for people who are keen to WWII history, who likes puzzles, numbers and who wants to understand the complicated world of decoding and deciphering codes, as well as to live in the time of people who worked there.nnI recommend to book tickets online especially on peak season. There are two cafe's in the site, a tea room, gift shop and toilets everywhere. No play parks for children but there are interactive activities and world war shows that children might be interested with. A lot of reading and visuals, so beware of information overload. The site is big- probably 5 hours to visit everything.nnWe enjoyed Bletchley Park and we would come back again.
Unfortunately it's cheaper if you pre book. Not a fan of that. Amazing park with a lot of WW2 history, the Mansion was just stunning, but their restaurant is on the price side. There's also a fixed tour. It a amazing seeing the huts where most of the decoding took place. It really takes all day to see everything, I still have to come back for the National computer museum. And the entrance was visitor centre has done deciding type writers to look at. It's also a yearly ticket, you can come back for free.
We took out 8 year old and 5 year old and they had a really good time, I was worried it would be a bit dry but thankfully lots of the huts and exhibitions had things to Keep them entertained along with the audio guide. Also the food at the cafe was great, lovely selection of vegetarian options and quick clean service. We spent the whole day there :
A great day out, fascinating to learn all about the work they did here during the war.nnWe came on 1940’s weekend so there was lots of fun activities, people in period dress and food vendors.nnThe free video/audio guides were great as well, some of the best I’ve used.nnTicket is also valid for a full year so you can come back if you don’t manage to see it all in one day.nnHighly recommend if you enjoy history.
