Fine Dining at Blackaddie Country House Hotel

Our food is far and above what one would normally expect. Ian, owner and chef, has held a Michelin Star for many years in his previous restaurants so you can imagine that the food here at Blackaddie Country House Hotel is going to be some of the best to be found in Scotland. Even in the short time that Ian & Jane have had the hotel they have already been awarded Dinner Quality Award at the Scottish Hotel Awards, Ian also received a Gold Medal Award for Excellence at the same awards, other award include 5 Stars Exceptional from Food Review Scotland, Gold Plate Status from Hotel Review Scotland a a Silver Award from Eat Scotland - they are now the highest Visit Scotland rated hotel restaurant in the Southwest of Scotland. Our menu changes daily and we use only fresh products with all dishes being made in our own kitchens. We feature wherever possible locally sourced Scottish ingredients and only the very best will do.

We had a family wedding near Sanquhar so we took a number of rooms for the whole family including young children and babies. We were so well looked after by the Italian owner and his wife, Paulo and Anna, they couldn’t do enough for us and the food was excellent. We had breakfast lunch and dinner most days, and would really recommend going to eat there if you live locally. We also had rooms that we could walk straight into the garden and enjoy the evening sun looking directly onto the river Nith. Thank you for looking after us all and making us feel so welcome
A country house just outside Sanquhar with its own vegetable garden, used extensively in the cooking.nnOur room was large, warm, and comfortable. And we were the only guests this Saturday, so we had the place to ourselves. The jacuzzi bath in our room was a pleasant surprise, making up for the municipal FUN next door which was closed during our stay https://www.dumgal.gov.uk/funpoolnnWe had assumed that the six course dinner would be a taste menu, but the portions were quite large, and by the end we were struggling. The food was great - traditional Italian mixed with occasional innovative departures beetroot sorbet, kohl rabi veloute.nnI liked the wine list and the knowledgeable advice of our host who comes from northern Italy. We chose the Ripasso, which packed quite a punch and kept us going throughout our long meal.nnWe had a late breakfast - and definitely weren't very hungry - but couldn't pass on the wonderful cooked options. The Scottish breakfast was spot on even including Stornoway black pudding, tattie scone and fried bread. The peat smoked haddock was perfectly cooked - as was the accompanying poached egg.nnWe'll definitely go back, but late in the year when they will have much more fresh veg from their garden.

Food is delicious! Made working away a treat as opposed to the standard franchise hotels I'm used to being booked into. Would hugely recommend anybody to stay here it's excellent.
We had a delicious dinner at this restaurant with very friendly staff. The Chicken Stroganoff was amazing as was the Orecchiette ! We were late getting out of a meeting, but when we called at 8:30pm they said if we got there by 9pm, they could serve us dinner. We walked around the property and wished it was daylight because we could tell the river and field views would be outstanding. We will definitely be back again.
