Lovely pub meal, booked a table for this evening. Sunday roast was beaut! Kids loved their dessert. Nice warming welcome, plenty of staff on. Overall nice cosy atmosphere.Food: 5/5
Was visiting Selby today and wanting some where to eat. After lots of failures, found this fabulous pub, servicing delicious food with quick service and a great atmosphere from the landlord and all the waitresses and bar staff. The Yorkshire puddings were fabulous as was the gravy. We will definitely be heading back here again. Thanks for accommodating us at short notice. Parking: Lots of parking for the busy pub on a Sunday.
An amazing Dinner at the Black Dog this evening. Really enjoyed it. Clams Mussels and Cod with Asparagus and the best sauce ever. And Crab prawns salad as well as a separate dinner. The staff are so helpful and pleasant. Definitely the place to visit

Fab place for food and drink. Just had lunch, food, service and staff brilliant. Massive outdoor area, with an outdoor stage. Massive lawned field for kids to run around on, plenty of parking, dogs welcome, water and dog snacks available. Highly recommend, great place to visit. Vegetarian options: Had vegetarian and fish dishes on the menu. Parking: Loads of parking on site. Kid-friendliness: Loads of outdoor space, lots of families visited. Wheelchair accessibility: Yes all on one level, no steps that I can remember at all.
Visited Wednesday afternoon so it was quiet. Great place we were so pleased to find it and on our route home. Good menu and extremely large portions - the steak and ale pie a real pie with a top and bottom actually defeated my husband which is unheard of! I had a very delicious sweet and sour chicken. If we're returning from York again we will try and remember this place. It's definitely a good place to eat.
I had a great time at this restaurant! The atmosphere was delightful, the food was tasty, and the service was excellent. However, I found the prices a bit on the higher side for what was offered. Overall, a positive experience. Opted for two starters as a main duck pancakes and prawns . Then sausage and mash for the other main
An absolute 5 star visit! Our first time here, and won't be our last. Our party of 8 were made to feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff. We had a mixture of Sunday lunch, salmon and sea bass, and all the food was piping hot and well presented. The empty plates spoke for themselves. Puddings were large sized, and although we struggled, they were too delicious to leave. We travelled from Wakefield, so it was a trip out, but we will definitely return. Thank you Trevor and Jane for making my birthday a good un.
Sunday lunch today in this blistering heat at The Black Dog in Camblesforth. I love reviewing pubs and restaurants and today's service has surpassed all others! The food was delicious too! We booked for 1pm but on arrival unfortunately the ladies couldn't find our booking. From a table in the bar a lovely lady - presumably the landlady called over. "Don't keep them waiting, sit them at table 31!" She then preceded to follow us over and apologised for the confusion stating it was their problem not ours!!!! Wonderful reception. We ordered drinks followed by the food. We had 1x beef platter and 1x 2 meat platter of beef and pork with all the trimmings- roasties, mash, parsnips, cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas, cabbage, French beans, sugar snap peas, Yorkshire pudding and oodles of meaty gravy. . As there was a table of 16 behind us who had just ordered we expected a wait but within 15mins our lunches arrived. Piping hot - perfect loved the touch of the hot plates too. Pudding was steaming, sticky treacle sponge with a creamy vanilla ice cream. 10* service from every member of staff we encountered. A fabulous team, 2 x lunches, pudding and 3 pints was £56. Highly recommend booking as it was so busy inside and out. I had a wander outside to take photos before the pub was inundated with guests! Team Black Dog YOU ARE AMAZING! Booked a table as a midweek treat for us and was greeted on arrival by a lovely gentleman. Ordered our starters and mains and didn't wait long at all for them to come. The food was plentiful and cooked to perfection and tasted lovely. Staff were fantastic and couldn't do enough for you. Will definitely be going back again soon!!
