Lovely hotel in quiet location. Staff were very attentive especially restaurant staff. We had dinner and breakfast both were delicious. Room was a good size with a balcony with a small sofa and table and chairs, unfortunately, it was not warm enough to sit outside.Rooms: 5/5
Would love to leave five stars, but a very aloof and offputting reception prevents that. I will start with the positives; our suite was exceptionally comfortable and well appointed. It was the perfect combination of elegance and relaxed comfort, with every detail attended to. It was extremely spacious, and well furnished. The French doors were tinted for privacy just to the right height. The freestanding tub in the living space was delightful, and actually usable. The oversize shower was wonderful, with strong water pressure and instant hot water. The restaurant and bar downstairs are warm and inviting, although we did not have a chance to dine there. The property is very understated from the outside, and located in a charming neighborhood near the tourist-friendly Poole Quay. Pronounced “Key” for the Americans The one downside, was the two receptionists who seemed perturbed that the guests checking in were disturbing them from whatever was on their computer screens at the time. They were especially perturbed when I asked about the corporate rate I had been instructed to use, and which I had indicated in my online reservation notes. They implied I was trying to pull a “scam” of some sort, which I felt was an inappropriate reaction. I didn’t push the issue…. Clearly the proprietors spend tremendous effort and expense to make this property delightful for guests, I think they would want the reception staff to rise to the same level. The rest of the staff from housekeeping to restaurant was excellent, and I don’t think a chilly reception should sway people from staying at this delightful property.
I had a beautiful stay here 3 weeks ago! The staff were exceptionally friendly on my arrival and made me and my partner welcome The room was so comfortable and the bathroom and shower amazing! Would recommended to friends or a couple wanting an romantic quite evening. Resturants are within walking distance as well as the coastline To top it off i found the inclusive breakfast very fresh and tasty, well spread and good coffee!!
Excellent food, really lovely cassoulet and the monk fish looked amazing but got eaten too quickly for me to get a taste! All the staff were really friendly and the hotel is a beautiful old building. I would definitely recommend and will definitely be going back. Thanks for a really nice evening!Service: 5/5
We had a wonderful lunch there and were able to sit outside as the weather was perfect. The service was excellent - just given enough time in between courses. And of course the food and wine were absolutely fabulous! Would highly recommend for a special meal.Service: 5/5
A fabulous hotel with an amazing bistro. The suites are fantastic, with amasing drench showers and role top bath within the living area. Super comfy bed and double flatscreen. The room was quiet and immaculate. All the staff were wonderful, and refreshingly happy. 100% will stay again - without hesitation!
Lovely hotel in this chain, right on the front and at the end of the high street. Being refurbished in Feb/March 2023 so will look even better. Very comfortable beds and lovely showers with L'Occitane toiletries. Recommended. Walkability: Right on the front by the Quay and at the end of the High Street so all shops close by.
An absolute bargain - especially when compared to the same prices charged at Premier Inn and the like. The staff are friendly. The bar is fantastic and there’s a great menu. Super location next to the old Custom House; lovely side streets and a stunning autumn climber up the front of the building. I stayed for one night. £123. Dinner £60 - the steak was £32! The only downside about this room d’Arenberg is that the windows are above the bar patio, so there’s no chance of privacy when getting a pair of pants out of your suitcase. Reception was a delight when I arrived at 8PM but it was a frosty goodbye when I left in the morning at 8AM. It’s not hard to muster some eye contact and that’s the only reason for 4 not 5 stars.
We went for a meal earlier in the month for a special birthday. Restaurant was very quiet. Starters came and were pretty much tasteless. We ordered chateaubriand with fry’s and specifically asked for it not to be pink like the last time and the waitress was very understanding and out this on the order. When it came it looked as though it hadn’t seen any heat at all. This was returned and when it came back it was slightly less pink but the fries were stone cold. At this point we refused anything further drank our wine and left. The waitress was very apologetic and her manner was exceptional. I wrote to the manager but to date I have not had any reply. We used to go to Du Vin for special occasions but this is the 3rd meal on the trot that has been poor. We have stayed in several other Du Vin hotels around the country and their rooms, service and food has been exceptional
Friendly and helpful team. We enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was lovely. Only complaint is that there is nobody to really help with heavy bags.
