The Community Centre offers a range of groups and services to local People. Groups include
Bumble Bees Nursery offering free two year old places, Parent and Toddler Group, Youth Groups, Kung Fu, Karate, Model Railway Society, Sequence Dance Sections for Adults, Music Project for Young People, Lapidary Society, Flower arranging course, LIne Dancing for adults, Craft sessions, Free access to computers and Internet.

I went through for a visit to a Model Railway Exhibition. Easy to find, just off Durham Road in Birtley.
Great old hall built in 1928 I’ve Been teaching Martial Arts there for the last 38 years it’s been like a second home to me, only problem I have is the unfair hall rental system they have in place for example you cannot hire the use of the Hall on a hourly basis , you get charged for 3 hours as standard which is fair enough if you are actually there for 3 hours but the likes of me who has only one class per week lasting one and a half hours IE.. six hours per month gets charged £125 per month the same as the other groups that are there for twelve hours ,
Although smaller than expected the model railway show was good and the area was well used. The staff I noticed were helpful and disabled access to upper floor was well built for use.
Really good skatepark and ignore the reviews that say scary because it really wasn't
